What's new

So, Devin Harris. Bad shot, or assist?

hahaha, i just watched the highlights and was gonna make this same thread. not sure if it was on purpose, but if it was, it's a pretty decent tactic imo.

....I don't really care....it's about time the Jazz finally got some breaks and are winning games they usually lose!

I think it was "I'll just throw this at the hoop and hope something good comes out of it. Maybe we'll get a rebound and put back."

Well, since the game-winner came from Big Al and it was not a result of an offensive rebound by Favors or Kanter, what does it matter? It will only help to cement us as a .500 team instead of getting those all-important mid-first round picks.

It was more of a "Oh, look. There's no opposing players in the key, I'll toss it that way, hopefully someone grabs it and dumps it in." It was a prayer, but a good one, that was answered.

He had little choice. He was defended well and Cousins left the rim area to help guard him. It was a smart play. Throw it up and hope it goes in. If it doesn't go in you know you have guys there because you are double teamed.

Shot or pass it was a smart play when he recognized Cousins come out.

On a side note, why in the world did Jefferson not dunk that one? I know he doesn't like dunking because somebody might get under his legs--but it was floated up right at the rim, he had to go up to get it, why not just throw it down and hang on the rim for a moment? If he does a monster dunk right there it is an ESPN top 10 and we are all talking about it.

Because dunking requires 100% control.

He said that while laughing. I think his goal was just to throw it at the rim because he knew Cousins was out contesting him, not rebounding.

This.

When Cousins came out to contest, Harris had Jefferson and I believe Milsap at the rim. He knew he was throwing up a tough shot but he also knew he had 2 guys right there for the put back. Usually you don't call a bad shot a smart play, but in this case I think you can.

It was a smart basketball play by both Harris and Jefferson. Harris for lobbing it toward the rim over a much taller Cousins instead of trying to draw a foul, and Jefferson for going to the rim, left unguarded, and Jefferson again for knowing he was at the basket and for getting the ball to the basket quickly, as time was running out.
Stats are always interesting, but as the saying goes, they really are for losers...

Not that it matters but it looked like a shot. Harris was looking at the rim. I am just glad AJ put it in.

Booner seemed to think that it was a pass.

But, yeah it was obviously a shot.

Taking another look at it though the play was for harris to shoot the ball and for Millsap, Al or Burks to get the put back. Cause all three of the Guys were right there. Good play call by Ty!

Those guys all knew they had just over 4 seconds, and Al can't be watching the clock while watching the ball, so I think he just did what he could to get the ball out of his hands the quickest.

Jefferson also got pushed from the backside as he was jumping to go after the ball so he was a little off balance. And Jefferson isn't exactly Dwight Howard out there. But I think his main goal was to make sure time didn't run out with the ball in his hands.

Agree. Kings overplayed by sending 3 guys at Harris. It's a good thing the shot was an airball, made it an uncontested tip for Jefferson. Kudos to him and Millsap for being right there to get the offensive board.

And what a terrible call on the Burks rebound. He was clearly shoved from behind.
