My cousin Alex is headlining at Wiseguys @ The Gateway this Thursday night. 2 reasons I mention this. First, he's my cousin, so shameless promotion. 2nd, he is very clean and also extremely funny. I watched him open for Ryan Hamilton a few weeks back and he stole the show. I was shocked at how funny he was. For those who don't know, Ryan Hamilton is the guy all the LDS folks love for his clean comedy. The one with all those billboards along I-15.

Personally, I enjoy clean comedy more. Not that I mind the dirty side, obviously, but clean seems much harder to pull off. And when I say clean, I mean I would take my mother and my kids to it. In fact, my mother took me to the last one and his entire family were in attendance as well (we're talking recommend carrying LDS people).

Anyway, it's summer and we need more threads.
 
Good to know. I would like to see him sometime, but can't make it Thursday. What's his name besides cousin Alex? Edit: Just looked him up. Alex Veluto.

I'm not offended by off-color humor but I often don't find it funny unless it is really clever. Cheap, easy humor isn't my thing (which means I rarely see comedy movies and TV shows). I prefer comedy that makes me use a brain cell or two to get to the laugh.
 
My favorite clean comic is jim gaffigan. Foxworthy makes me laugh as well. TBH i like almost every comedian... especially if i have a few drinks in me.

The worst comedian i ever saw live was sarah silverman. She bombed so hard. Pure silence in the crowd to the point that i felt bad and embarrassed for her.

Honestly tho, if my cuz is as funny for an hour as his 20 minute intro I won't have intestines come Friday. I'm not lying that he is that good, better than Gaffigan. It takes a lot to shock me.

Wiseguy is way cheap from what I remember.

You saw Silverman live?

I really really like her, both as a comedian and I think she's really hot (which I get might not be a consensus opinion). You think she was off that night or that her humor just didn't play well in Utah, if that's where you saw her?

I normally like her quite a bit and I do think she is hot. I saw her at usana with chris hardwick (stole the show tbh), hannibal burress (probably the second best act of the night), louis c.k. (headliner), aziz ansari (pretty good), jeff ross (kinda sucked. Not his best night), demetri martin (one of my favorites, but was just ok), and a few others.

It was a great time. Outdoor show, hours and hours long, lots of booze and buds.... Chris hardwick was shockingly good. Simply fantastic and I had no idea he was any good. Hannibal burress was awesome. He usually always is. Aziz ansari had a really funny set. Louis c.k. made the most of finishing up in the rain (it only rained during his set) and was pretty good. Demetri martin was a bit of a letdown but my expectations were probably too high (He reminds of mitch hedberg one of my all time favorites).

Silverman bombed as bad a possible. Idk if it was like intentional, thinking that the lamest material would somehow be funny (I have seen norm Mcdonald have some success with that style of so bad its funny) but it was horrible. Crickets.

She was bad bro. And I'm a fan. Admittedly the crowd may have been a little too drunk, hot, and high (if that's possible) but either way, she was bad.

Hardwick sucks IMO.

I love Hannibal, but his newest netflix special was pretty bad.

One more thing about chris hardwick.
At the show I went to at least half of his act was improv with the crowd. He would walk around and ask questions to people in the crowd and talk mad ****. He was so damn funny.

About 3 years ago I think. It was way cheap. My wife got a groupon discount. I think it was like $35 bucks each or something and regular price was like $90 I think.

I was at that show and while Silverman didn't slay it by any means, to basically say she bombed as bad as anybody who's ever bombed is pretty damn far off IMO. She had an ok set and got some decent laughs. She said at the beginning of the set that she had just filmed a special and everything she was trying out was new material. Probably why we didn't get her "A" game but I didn't think we saw her bomb either.
