TANK NOTE?

After a disappointing free agency this past summer, this seems like the only way for DL to bring us a legitimate forward who can stretch the floor and pair up with Gobert.

Zion, Bol Bol, Cameron Reddish, Rui, etc.

I keep reading trade ideas. Trades for players and trades for draft picks.

Trouble is the Jazz cupboard is bare. Not a single extra 1st round pick and just 2 extra second rounders far in the future .

Jazz have several players who coyld be used to make salaries match up but few players who other teams are buying.

Given limited assets im not sure how jazz get anything done.

We're not tanking, I'm just talking smack. Dreaming of Zion though. I'm so jealous of whoever gets him.

I would be upset if Cleveland ends up getting him. They leaned too much on Lebron to carry their team to the finals without giving him much in help. Their front office, from the outside looking in, looks like a mess.

Which is why the Jazz needed to continue being really good so they could sell free agency.

Given that they've sucked, and teams with more cap space next offseason are better than us (thanks Exum) in addition to being better free agency destinations, I don't know what the Jazz's plan is now. They HAVE ALWAYS had to make the most of their situation, so sitting on their hands this offseason and even re-inking players that don't provide anything this team needs was butt-****ing frustrating to watch.

Jazz might not need to try to lose games with how insane the West is. They could legit try and still end up with 8th worst record. The revamped lottery would aid as well.

I'm torn between having the Jazz try to make the playoffs or to try to tank. Either way isn't a good scenario imho.

Tank) - The Jazz don't make the playoffs and it forces the front office to make changes, they end up getting the 11th pick and getting a decent player, but they don't pick up anyone worth while in free agency.

Playoffs) - The Jazz make the 6-8th seed and loses in the first round. They get more experience playing as a group and they are able to at least get some meetings with 1 of the star free agents and/or able to land a fringe all-star for a slightly higher than market price.

Either way I think it's not good.

Really have to get to 10th worst in the league to get a realistic shot at taking advantage of the new odds... another jump in percentages at 8... I think it would take a long lasting injury to get that far... so we likely finish in the 12-14 spot if we make the playoffs. I don't want an injury to one of our guys.

Gobert wants to win now.

I'm sure he is very angry the way the team is performing this year.

The Jazz have to keep Gobert happy.

If Gobert is angry with the way the team is playing now he needs to lead by example. His play has been lacking at times as well! Perhaps a players only meeting is appropriate at this juncture.

I imagine them saying ****, ****, **** RN.

Gobert has been a consistent monster. He is the only one on the team who has. 18 double doubles or what have you? Lacking at times is laughable.

He is certainly not without blame. He is bricking tons of FT's, his defensive ratings and effort are all down from where we used to see, so those double doubles neither are impressive nor they do help the team to win.

This might not be a bad thing. The West is brutal and we weren’t winning it all this year anyway. Maybe we end up with like the 9th pick. That much sucking would humble us (I think Donovan needs that—sorry but he seems a bit full of himself at times to me and this might piss him off to work insanely hard in the off-season and come back with the eye of the ****ing tiger next year), and we could get a legit talent at 9, and one or two key free agents.
