  1. Utah Jazz: Not trading for Kevin Love

    While the Jazz made major additions this summer with Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic and Ed Davis, trading for Kevin Love really would have put them in title contention.

    Love, 30, is still an excellent scorer and rebounder when healthy, now with championship experience under his belt. Rudy Gobert could cover up any issues he has defensively, and Utah as a whole was second in the NBA in defensive rating last season even before trading for Conley.

    The Jazz can still put together a reasonably attractive package for the five-time All-Star power forward. The combination of Joe Ingles, Dante Exum and some salary filler would make the money work, and Utah can still trade first-round picks in 2022 or 2024. While losing a fan favorite in Ingles would hurt, it would give the Jazz a star-studded starting lineup of Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Bogdanovic, Love and Gobert.

    If Utah starts to fall back in a crowded Western Conference, a trade for Love should be seriously considered.
 
So Dedum and Ingles for Love? No thanks. I'll take Green any day at his salary. Jingles is perfect for the 6th man role, provided Quin prefers to start Bojan at the 3.
There's a greater chance Love is in street clothes than a major contributor in the playoffs (over what Jingles will provide). Jazz will also have enough room to use their MLE next year, which may be important enough to tip the scales. I could also see Dante increasing his trade value enough to be a desirable chip, rather than just salary filler.
 
Love has one of the worst contracts in the league. This is dumb.

Love is a good player... ish. But that contract doe? Plus he is a liability on defense AND he is not nearly as good as he was when he was 25. Poor quality pitch.

PS. The team's biggest mistake was not drafting Giannis and Gobert in the same draft. That and opting for Corbin to be the coach when we had a bunch of assets.

Wow. Worst. Take. Ever. Trading Ingles, a productive multi-faceted big wing playmaker on a reasonable contact for 50 games of growth-stifling expense that is a liability on defense is so stupid it flies in the face of all logic.

OMG, who is the complete idiot with this take? The Cavs would have to include a pick to move his salary.

I know shad really wanted it to happen (still does apparently) and infection talked a lot about. He was certain it would happen (not sure if he wanted it to or not though)

I was saying that it was very likely to happen, not that I was crying for it to happen. That said, I don’t think it would be nearly as bad as people conceptualize it, and that it would actually be a good thing. It’s a bit different than saying it would be my top move.

It would have been a nightmare lol. It didn’t mean crying in the literal sense. Just in the constantly repeating sense.
