I had a vasectomy about 20 years ago. About 15 years after "the big snip" I started experiencing testicular pain, non-side specific, off and on, sometimes so bad I have had to take WEEKS off work. Turns out that is a possible complication, although weirdly there's so little research done on Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome that they don't know even how OFTEN it happens.
My old urologist(s) in Salt Lake called it epididymitis and prescribed antibiotics for it every time. The new one up here in Oregon just calls it "Ball Pain" and said to just take it a little bit easy when it hurts and it'll get feeling better on its own. The amount and length of pain between the two approaches is just about the same.
One of many reasons vasectomy is not a good procedure.
