Race is a classification system used to categorize humans into large and distinct populations or groups by heritable phenotypic characteristics, geographic ancestry, physical appearance, ethnicity, and social status.
Well to my understanding last two should not be applied to race, but it is what it is.

If we spent half the time and energy on space exploration as we have done/do/will do on racism and hate, we'd have colonies on at least 10 different planets and moons now. We'd be talking about warp drive and sources of endless (clean) energy.

That is true. It's rare, but there are still times when I'll hear someone do this still today. Makes me feel like someone just punched me in the gut. That's why I get pissed when sometimes people take things I say and twist it as being racist .. when I'm actually an equal opportunity offender.
