The effect Free Agency will have on retiring numbers.

I wanted to pose a question. Do you guys believe that the constant shuffle of players via trade and free agency will effect retiring numbers?

I think it will depend case by case whether the number is retired, or not. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see fewer numbers get retired with the current generation of players.

I'm sure Nash will get his number retired. But, will Ray Allen get his number retired? With whom? Some players are quick to remind us that loyalty doesn't matter (especially during free agency). I just hope they remember that fan loyalty isn't a given either.

I don't know much about this subject. Is there written rules on Jersey Retiring?

I don't think Boston would have retired Ray Allen's number even if he stayed. Unless they won a couple more championships.

I would put Ray in the HoF but not really for what he did in Boston. He was unbelievable for many years before getting to Boston.
