The Honey browser add-on scam and the Pie adblocker

Honey is really, really shady. They claim they scour the internet for coupon codes to get you the best deal on anything you purchase online. That isn’t really what is going on. Investigative journalist MegaLag did a great job uncovering this story and deserves the accolades he’s currently getting. Honey has been stealing from everyone while misrepresenting their product.



This brings us to the Pie adblocker now being advertised all over YouTube as an adblocker that works on YouTube. The Pie adblocker is made by the same team who made Honey, and is basically the sketchy part of Honey repackaged as an adblocker.

Early on Honey would actually provide usable coupons. Anymore it is worthless to the end user 99% of the time. No reason to use it even if they weren't a huge scam.
