The Invisible Devin Harris

One of the better articles I have read about a player. And its not because he is a Jazz man. The guy who wrote he article understands basketball and what certain stats mean and his explanations on defense were great.

I am excited for Devin Harris. I just hope he can stay healthy. His defense excites me. Especially since this is a point guard league now. Stopping penetration is important and Harris can do that.

Great find!

Harris is gonna be a pretty dang good addition. It just pales in comparison to having a guy that's THE guy and is an elite NBA talent. It'll take a while to realize what Harris can do, and it'll be weird to see Harris there instead of D-Will. This city loved the hell out of Deron, too, so they are some huge shoes to fill.

Agree. Excellent article.

I was genuinely surprised to find no one had created a Devin Harris thread before I did; it was all about Favors. I remember thinking a few years ago Dallas had given up way too much by trading a good young PG for an aging Kidd. I wish Harris had better range, and durability is a valid concern. It will be important for the Jazz to have 3 decent PG's; Harris, a vet like Watson and a young guy to develop. Please, KOC, do NOT re-sign Ronnnie Price!

There are at least two things Devin is better at than Deron. He's quicker and he gets to the foul line a lot. Oh, and he flat-out HUSTLES!

problem is he will get called for fouls faster now. so he wont be as effective in stopping penetration
called jazzitiss, another symptom is getting oevrlooked in allstarvoting

Outstanding article!! I really like that the article's author recognizes the value of positional defense over the bumping, pushing, grabbing slop most guys do these days...
Deron has a better post-up game than Devin, but lacks any consistancy defensively. I am eager to see Devin as a Jazz-man; he will attack the paint way more than Deron did, as he likes to use his quickness to draw the defense to him in the paint.

I like his first highlight in that video is against derek fisher. I was turned of by some of his shooting %'s but seems like he'll fit in well with the jazz system and those %'s should go up, I like his size - Deron did say Devin was the toughest guy he had to guard in college.

There are a lot of very good players in the NBA. Harris has talent and I think the gap between him and DW isn't that much in some ways. I don't know if Harris has the killer instinct DW has but I think Harris isn't a major drop off.

I liked Devin Harris back when he was with Dallas. In the midst of the shock and disappointment of losing DWill I forgot that I actually like his replacement.

Though it doesn't solve the Jazz's main problem with shooting, or its new problem with not having an identity.

At least our coach is willing to experiment with more than just the P&R. P&R has worked over the years but lets build a system based on the talents of our players.

It is hard to argue with the success of the P&R.
