the Orville is pretty AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cbs must regret denying seth macfarlane from creating his own star trek show a few years ago!

the first episode isn't really that nice!

but the show gets awesomely BETTER

unlike that politically correct sjw hogwash called star trek discovery who pisses on the progressive legacy of star trek!

CHECK OUT THE ORVILLE AIRING TONIGHT episode 5. it has some nice surprises

I haven't been that impressed but I am generally not a McFarland fan. His thinly veiled narcissism is irksome.

I dont really like Star Trek but I figured I would give this show a try.

1st episode was awful. But it is the pilot and they are just setting up the show.

2nd episode was kind of funny and I thought maybe the show had potential.

3rd episode was kind of boring, was not funny at all and tried to hard to create some fake alien situation so they could have a silly political debate and try and relate it, then have the good guys "loose."

At this point I am not sure if I will keep watching it anymore. Maybe ill give it another episode but frankly there is a lot of good tv on the air so I am not sure how much time I want to waste on this.

episode 4 was awesome cool and classic trek

episode 3 i found boring, but they had both side of the political debate!! which is the way to do it!

episode 1 was different i never judge a show on that.

episode 2 was classic trek!

I would recommend you watch episode 4.

but this show is not for everyone, it is for those who liked classic upbeat trek!

Ill watch 4 and give it one more chance. I think I was expecting a funny version of Star Trek, not just another Star Trek. I never really like Star Trek so it might not be for me.

aah. scratch episode 4 then. they try to replicate star trek original series, and the next generation.
just iwth a bit of seth mcfarlane humor.

if you do not like the old series i doubt it is for you!

i like ds9 the most.

I like Orville! Having said that, some of the jokes fall flat. Most of the time swearing serves no purpose other than to just say **** and see what happens. I'd expect something more creating in that regard from Macfarlane.

I don't expect anything actually creative from McFarlane. He has made a career on recycling jokes and has done very little actually original other than repackaging it and being more "in your face" which I guess passes for talent or creativity now-a-days.

do you like star trek??

not the new junk movies. but trek anywhere form TOS to VOY( and to a lesser extent ENT)

seth is a pretty big star trek fan boy. other than the humor he is treating it with rspect with lots of easter egs. and nice cameos.
the guy playing will riker in enterprise even directed an episode. the last one, which had a nice social commentary about practical jokes.

soon patrick steward will direct and make a cameo in an episode.

i urge you fi you like any of those early treks to give it a chance.

if you dont like trek, then dont

I watched star trek off an on. Most of TNG, we have seen the movies. I liked the first reboot movie quite a bit. I watched the original series when I was a kid religiously. I think the quality of the various series of ST is highly variable. Some of it is quite good, some of it is crap, most of it falls in the middle. They get some good high-concept stuff going and then don't have the writing chops to get everything out of it they could.

That said, I find the Orville just boring really. We watched the first 4 episodes and called it quits. Maybe we will revisit it later when we need something to binge watch on a boring rainy Saturday or something, but ultimately this just fell flat.

if you like the star trek reboot you will like star trek discovery!

I finally watched through episode 6 I think. Got bored. I do not find him funny in the least.

Neither do I. I haven't watched Orville. But "A Million Ways to Die in the West" seemed like something that could have been funny had any of 100 other writers/directors done it, was just plain not funny. Lot's of good material that was ruined by McFarlane's pretty horrible directing, writing, acting and delivery. His ego was present in every ****ing scene.

orville is pretty highly praied amon star trek fans, they say they finallyy have a real star trek show.
