You do realize that Utah could make a case for having the actual smallest market-size in all of pro sports and the bay area is 6th largest (at least), right? So yeah, they get more goodies than us.That looks pretty sweet. If Seattle gets a team, their arena is supposed to be on the waterfront too. And we are stuck with Radium Stadium for the next 40 years.

I was in SF last week. What an amazing city. The arena will probably add to the nightlife around that pier.
There's a large, relatively affluent population in the Bay Area that goes nuts over the Warriors. San Francisco + Oakland + San Jose is over 3 million people easily. Going to Warriors and Giants games is becoming a hip thing for Silicon Valley techies to do, and a lot of Asians really dig basketball for some reason.
As for earthquake safety, maybe the arena is just supposed to float off into the bay.
