There was no reason for Adam Hilarie to believe anything but the obvious: He had just been on a promising first date with a pretty girl.

Hilarie had met Hailey Rose Bustos on PlentyOfFish, which bills itself as the largest dating site in the world. He’d picked her up and they went bowling in Winter Haven, Fla., at Cypress Lanes, which offers shoe and lane rentals for a quarter on Thursday nights, and specials on pizza and beer.

A few hours later, the pair ended up at his place, where they talked a bit more and met up with his roommate.

Then, Hilarie dropped his date off at home.

Bustos sent the single father a text afterward: She’d had a good time, she wrote to Hilarie, and wanted to meet up the following night at his place.

The next night, her real intentions became clear, police told The Washington Post.

Bustos, 18, brought three men with her to Hilarie’s place, including two career criminals on probation for violent felonies. At least one of the men, police said, had a gun.

When Hilarie, 27, responded to the knock on the door, the men overpowered him and dashed inside, police said.

The struggle ended in the kitchen.

“Hilarie was begging for his life, he was not putting up any kind of fight, and was telling them that he had a 5-year-old daughter,” according to arrest reports obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

Hilarie was shot in the head and collapsed on the kitchen floor, Auburndale’s Deputy Police Chief Andy Ray told The Washington Post.

With Hilarie on the floor in a pool of blood, Ray said, the suspects went downstairs, pulled their car to the front of the apartment and began stealing the dead man’s Xbox, iPhone and TVs — valuables Bustos had spotted the night before.

A witness told investigators that Bustos had been involved in at least one similar robbery before, Ray told The Post.

For her role in the deadly robbery of Adam Hilarie, Bustos was paid $50 in cash, police said.

Johnny Jackson told The Post that Hilarie, his brother, took Bustos to the same bowling alley the siblings used to go to as kids.

Sounds like something my genius ******* students would do in the future.

Actually one in the town I teach became a cop in VA and gave his friends a ridealong and pulled some dude over, put a gun to his head, like that. For no reason though. Thought it be funny I guess. Because he's a moron. Pretty sure that scumbag will get years in prison. He should just for being that dumb and a POS.

Another from my district (whose dad is a security guard in the schools) was the driver for a bunch of scumbag kids from Rutgers who were burglarizing homes or doing some such **** last fall.

POS.

Never Hilarie.

I chuckled at this until I actually read the story and found out you used the poor murdered single father's name rather than the woman who killed him, Hailey. Not trying to be a killjoy; just doesn't make sense now.

#neverhailey just doesn't have the same ring to it.

The story sucks. But she could have met the dude anywhere, the online dating site has little do with what happened.

Well, that's depressing.

Edit: Didn't read comments before making the post. Sorry for being a cheap ConradA24 knockoff.

My sister met a man online and they just celebrated their 17th anniversary. he adopted her daughter and they adopted another little girl. Now have 2 grand daughters. He pushed her through RN school and she is now the head nurse at a hospital. She turned around and pushed him through school and he is busy completing his PHD thesis in education.

That settles it, you are either finding the love of your life or getting murdered if you choose online dating.

My experience is it's a pretty mixed bag... but I would probably go more 20% good, 80% not so good... in terms of the photo not really representing who the person really is (too much photoshop in some cases), or the personality not matching, ... very hard to hit the sweet spot of somebody you are attracted to and also being someone you can really get along well with.

Yeah OK, but I guess it's easier now for the criminal (Hailey in this case). She doesn't have to be on the offensive, I mean the guy's doing everything.. LOL .. she just had to sit at home in front of her computer, wait for the guy to come pick her up, went and have dinner with him, bowled, etc... ALL PAID FOR ..then the next day bring her bros along with her. Job done.

In the olden days she would have had to get dressed up, went to a bar somewhere, reel a guy in, get him hooked, etc..

So you think she went on that first date wearing dirty sweats with her hair in curlers?

Well no, but I don't think she would have had to wear short skirts and high heels... she is a good looking lady I think she could have gotten away with casual wear especially as they have chosen to go bowling.
