The NBA playoffs have hit an all time low....as far as quality, watchable basketball is concerned! Do you realize that the Heat won the Eastern Conference finals, despite the fact that in 3 of the 5 games they played, they had more turnovers than assists! They won two of those games. The shooting percentages of both teams was atrocious, both from 3 point land and the field. To sum up this years playoffs nicely (1) Nobody but nobody was witnessed in the act of thinking, not a single, smart offensive play was attempted, much less executed. (2) Players can’t perform more thoughtlessly or carelessly, and a coach can’t contribute anything less. (3) The reality is, the Thunder and the Bull's must’ve have been watching too many Knicks games. The above set of circumstances merely masks the real problem: They’re a bunch of knuckleheads/boneheads!

Its ugly-ball. They seem to call it "letting them play". I call it letting them foul. Why enforce the rules differently? Sure, there will be a natural increase in intensity in the playoffs so defense will be better, but everyone knows you get away with being a lot more physical too. And like you noted, that leads to some ugly b-ball.
