This team vs last ... who is better ?

I like the tone of this team more. Part of the question is are we assuming health or reality? I think last year’s team is 60-win if healthy. I don’t know how things will shake out this year, but I think if we have some things to boost our confidence and believe we can take out teams like GSW then I think we can be pretty good. If we have something hit our confidence and we believe we’re weak offensively and play like that then I have no idea.

This. Let's not kid ourselves. Hayward and Hill were amazing offensively. Legit chance at 60 wins and avoiding GS until WC Finals. I do agree Utah is deeper now. Imagine a health Hayward with this team. Would have been beautiful to watch.

No haywood.
Addition by subtraction.

Also hood, who was supposed to be our go to guy on offense has barely played.

I'm amazed by what DL and Quin have done.

The jazz need a healthy hood and possibly a little more production from Mitchell before I can say they are better than last season.

If we stay healthy we are better than last years team. Although last years team would have been really good if they had stayed healthy for the whole year. Losing Exum hurts a little this year but if that is the only big injury we will be better than last year.

The biggest difference is that we have depth at the bigs this year. Last year Favors was hurt most of the year and we had no back up center so when he was kind of healthy he spent most his time out of position at Center. This year we have much better starting PF/C Favors/Gobert than last years Diaw/Gobert. We also have a solid backup PF in JJ and a solid backup C in Udoh. We also have a little depth past that with Jerebko, Bradley and Griffin who are probably all better than our backup options last year.

Favors healthy and playing his correct position is a big upgrade to the roster. Plus Gobert can actually get some rest on the bench this year.

Our PG position is improved. Although it would be greatly improved with Exum at backup this year but its still improved.

Our SG position is improved with Hood, Mitchell, and Burks.

Our SF is the only position that has taken a step back but not really that much. Inlges is filling in well and Sefolosha is a great backup at that position with our team style.

It's about a push, but I like this team a hell of a lot better than last year's, mostly because that traitor Hayward is gone.

This team would defeat last years... why? Because we have more heart and passion, these characteristics soared after we signed our awesome free agents. Hayward leaving solidified our current team's identity as tougher

It's close. Having Favors and Burks healthy this year, adding Udoh and Sefalosha, and having Rubio push the ball and orchestrate instead of Hayward and Hill are all improvements. If Exum didn't get hurt, I think this year's team would clearly be better, but lets see what happens when Mitchell finds his sea legs. Rudy and Hood are also both slightly improved this year.

Rubio really is the straw that stirs the drink. He's making average or below average offensive players successful. The fact that Joe Ingles can score the ball head to head against Melo and PG really says something. And of course, the defense and depth this year are better than last year.

Dunno, wait until we have a few games where we score 65 points which I think there's every chance might happen Enjoy the feel and spirit of this team more than last year tho

Too soon to tell but the good news is that it is a legit question. We lost an all star and a productive PG and we may be as good or better without them. Great work by DL and QS

2 weeks ago there would be no way I would have given it a 2nd thought. Losing Hill and Hayward was quite a hole to fill. Now that we've seen a few games, it's certainly not out of the question, but too early to know anything. Who knows, the Thunder may be bad this year and fall far below expectations. Last year we lost to Portland early and I though they would be a good team, and they just eked into the playoffs.

Portland will always suck dude, over paid roster and a bunch of scrubs.
