Obviously we haven't all seen everything but it's time for the annual thread in which we share and debate impressions. I'll start since my list last year made a bunch of people mad for including Where the Wild Things Are and Away We Go

Top 9 (since I couldn't think of 10 movies this year that I really liked due to the year generally sucking):

1. The Social Network
2. Solitary Man (technically an 09 film but released in the US in May of 2010)
3. True Grit
4. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (The most surprisingly polarizing film on Jazzfanz)
5. Black Swan
6. Toy Story 3
7. Buried
8. I'm Still Here
9. The Kids are All Right

Most overrated: Inception

Movie I feel bad about not enjoying as much as I "should" have: Winter's Bone

Most Disappointing: Shutter Island

Movie I refuse to see for being too Oscar-baity: The King's Speech

Most Surprisingly Quality: Red

Worst: Burlesque

1. The Social Network
2. The Fighter
3. Inception
4. True Grit
5. Black Swan
6. The Town
7. Cyrus

I think that's all I've seen this year basically...

Kicky, I really want to see Buried, I'm Still Here (the intentional unintentional comedy looks off the charts), as well as Biutiful, The Kids are Alright and the documentary on Pat Tillman. I'm in agreement with you on The King's Speech (I'm tired of one British movie a year that I'm supposed to like; I'm most annoyed with Cate Blanchett because she's up for a statue three out of every four or five years) but feel I should to fairly compare.

Buried is a great movie. Glad to see it on your list. I saw it initially at Sundance, and then again just a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to have to give this some thought before I come up with a list of my own. I also still haven't seen The Social Network, or Scott Pilgrim. I want to see both of those.

My favorites were animated. I enjoyed Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon. I didn't like either The Social Network or Inception. Frankly I thought the dream thing in movies was better handled in Dreamscape. I know different ideas with level of dreaming but all Inception had going for it was special effects. The story was abysmal. I didn't get to see many of the dramas on this year. And I think this was a crappy year for the movies I did see. I didn't like shutter island, salt, or nightmare on elmstreet redux. And even being somewhat familiar with the scott pilgrim stories I did not like the movie.

I will take these lists for my next netflix set.

Additional category that I should have included,

Most digital ink spilled per dollar of box office receipts: 8: The Mormon Proposition.

Can't do it... Too many 2010 movies I haven't seen... Out of the movies I did see, Winter's Bone is probably my favorite. Possibly by a mile. I'd have to think about things more before saying for sure. I missed The Fighter. I also understand that somewhere there was a new Kelly Reichardt movie in 2010. A Western? I can't possibly formulate an opinion on 2010 if Kelly Reichardt came out with a Western and I didn't see it.

Having a wife and young girls, I don't get to see many movies that aren't animated or chick flicks. That being said, I usually like most animated films, and really liked, "How to Train Your Dragon". Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only one worth watching again. "Toy Story" and "Shrek" were the absolute turds, and "Happily Never After" was the worst animated movie ever made. Here are the movies that I would see again:

Iron Man 2
The Crazies (I know, I know)
Sorcerer's Apprentice

The movies that I haven't seen but would love to:

True Grit
The A-Team
Jackass 3D
Hot Tub Time Machine
The Town
Social Network
The Human Centipede
Harry Potter

And the movies you couldn't pay me to watch again:

Inception (wow, just horrible)
That crappy Twilight movie
Date Night
The Last Song (I'd still pork Miley)
Clash of the Titans
Alice in Wonderland

Couldn't agree more regarding Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland. Couldn't disagree more regarding Toy Story and Shrek. Loved them both.

Agreed. Toy Story and Shrek were great movies, regardless of the animation. Character development and progression, story arc, conflict and resolution all top-notch. You know an animated film has nailed it when you kind of stop noticing the animation, and I did in these 2.

Down movie year for me, but some movies i really want to see i haven't seen yet - True Grit, Buried, The Fighter, 127 hours

best movies i've seen in no particular order:
Restrepo
Inception
The Other Guys
Kick ***
The Expendables
Get Him to the Greek
Toy Story 3

Movies I wish I never watched:
Iron Man 2
Predators
Machete
Alice
The Wolfman
Dinner for Schmucks

How to Train Your Dragon (best animated movie this year including Toy Story 3 IMHO)
Shutter Island (believe it or not)
The Expendables (I know, I know)

Somehow I forgot that Kick-*** was 2010. I loved Kick-***. It was a pure, blind love. Objectively I have no idea if it's even a good movie. But whether it's a good movie or not, it's all kinds of awesome.

Movie I can't believe I paid money to see:

And just to add...I'm anticipating seeing the Social Network, True Grit, and The Fighter very soon. With True Grit being first in line.

I did not forget that Kick-*** came out in 2010. Trust me when I say that was not a blind omission from my list.

Scott Pilgrim was crap in every way a movie can be crap. And Black Swan was not one of the best of the year, even in a crappy year. I'm sure the lesbian sex scene was the reason I saw it on a few of your lists.

The Social Network was good. That and Inception are the only two movies I thought were worthy of a theater viewing, and I saw another 10 or so movies in theaters. Crappy year, but holy ****, some of the inclusions on that list are ridiculous, especially when you leave Inception off for the reason of it being "overrated", like you're too cool to list something that was popular.
