Utah gets: Coutney Lee, Jordan Hill
Houston gets: Raja Bell, Ronnie Price
(contracts also match with Hayward)
Why we do it: Raja isn't having the best year and Lee is shooting well (40% from 3), Lee is also a solid defender (did a decent job guarding Kobe in the finals his rookie year) and is still young, at this point I'd say an upgrade at starting SG. Hill is also a good young talent with good size for PF (6'10) which gives us a big developing guy to spell Sap. We also save around $500,000.
Why we don't do it: Doesn't bring in the superstar name everyone wants, Hill still pretty raw, may not get great minutes.
Why Houston does it: Aaron Brooks is banged up so they get cover at PG with Price, Bell gives them another good man defender to go with Battier on the perimeter and some vet leadership. Hills departure frees up more minutes for Patterson whos played well in his limited role.
Why they don't do it: Possibly seen as a departure from their current youth movement (giving them Hayward instead of Bell might solve this).
I know it doesn't bring in Granger or someone similar that everyone seems to want right now but I think its a pretty good move that doesn't cripple us financially again and whilst it gives us help now with Lee's defense and shooting it also could help us down the line as they are both young guys coming in (that's also why I'd prefer to ship Bell over Hayward, but wither way I'd be happy with the trade).
