Urban Meyer resigns

First the Seminoles destroy the Gators in front of 100+ undecided Florida recruits. Then Shannon is canned. Now this. Loving this. ABSOLUTELY LOVING THIS.

I won't be like Salty. I can be objective. I think we may get our butts kicked in our bowl game. But this is big news for Jimbo and Co. and could pay huge dividends in our recruiting efforts.

The tomahawk chop will be back and better than ever baby.

I heard from a reliable source (works for local sports radio) that the Utes offered Urban an insane deal to be O.C. and he's taking it.

Wonder if he'll be tempted to join his boy Tebow in Denver. He was an assistant at Colorado State for awhile and it's no secret that his wife loved the time the spent in Colorado and Utah.

I know he left to "spend more time with family", but I think he could take the Denver job and try to spin it (no time spent recruiting, no booster and alumni functions, etc). I wouldn't be suprised to see it happen.

Urban Meyer in the pros with his offense spells disaster.

I wonder if Urban is jumping ship like Pete Carrol did? Seriously, with all the talk about Cam Newton and dirty SEC schools, I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA was working on a bigtime investigation involving Florida. Perhaps Urban is just trying to stay ahead of them and jumping ship before the real sanctions come down?

Just a thought.

I wonder if Urban's health has anything to do with his decision? Didn't he have a near heart attack/nervous break down last year or something?

And I don't mean to sound like a jerk either when I talk about him jumping ship before sanctions come down.

It's just in today's NCAA, Football and Basketball, I always am suspicious when a coach suddenly leaves like this. It just makes me wonder if the real reasons to leave one's "dream job" have to do with other things, such as possible illegal recruiting or cooking up someone's grades.

I think Florida St. is on the right track. It helps when Florida and Miami both suck the same year.

I'm not sure if this is the most ideal year for college football coaches either.

I doubt Gruden is headed to the college rankings anytime soon. I think he wants an NFL job.

I think Harbough wants the Michigan job, not Florida.

I can't think of any big name coaches out there for Florida. Maybe Mike Leach? But doesn't he want to wait another year or two since Texas Tech is paying him off still? Josh McDaniels maybe? But his stock isn't exactly high right now...

Perhaps Coach Whit or Gary Patterson will be receiving phone calls from Florida pretty soon?

No doubt their names will be mentioned. I have a hard time seeing either one of them leave now that they are going to AQ conferences.
