@Gameface Thinking about going to this. I remember you had some pretty bad things to say about last year and was wondering if there will be improvements that will make it worth my while that you are aware of? I already have tickets to the after party for the concert. Thought might be worth going early to the actual beerfest event.

It's not bad. I like the fairgrounds as a venue. The beer selection is good (although it has to be beer that the Utah Liquor Stores already have). My biggest complaint is that you pay to get in the door and then pay at a bare minimum $1 per 4oz sample, but the only thing you'll ever get for $1 is the most basic 4%abv beers. Any "craft" beer is going to be $2-$4 per 4oz sample. Pretty much any beer above 6%abv is going to be $3 per 4oz and anything "special" is going to be $4 per 4oz. I mean I get that charging per sample is how it works in Utah, but charging that much for a sample? It's just outrageous.

I just went to the website to kind of see what I am looking at if I go. I just found that to attend the concert that I have already paid for, I also need to pay for an entry fee into the festival itself. So now I am looking at the entry fee as well as the cost of the concert. This was never mentioned when I bought the concert tickets and I am quite upset that this little nugget of info was never mentioned.

I am also bothered by the fact that only beer that I can already buy at the liquor store will be available. If I am going to an event like this I want to try something new that I may not normally have access to. This has DABC written all over it, the ****ing bastards.

There will be some stuff you probably haven't tried. There are things at the DABC that you can't get as a regular person. Beer bar and other places bring in some nice beers that require buying an entire case of and really have to have a connection to get a hold of.

I recommend going early. The lines can get a little long.

It's not the best beer fest, but it's okay for Utah standards.

Although I don't get why they can't get around the paying for each drink. You can go to a Jazz game and drink unlimited drinks in the Toyota club seats. That is paying one price and you can have all the beer and wine you want. Also there are other private events that get around this. Oh well.

Maybe they don’t want ppl to pay $50 and get ****-faced? It would paint da Mormons and Utah in a bad light?

“All you can beer”, I like it.
