Venezuela has effectively tried to annex nearly all of their neighbor, Guyana. Maduro has started issuing oil and gas licenses/leases to Venezuelan state oil companies for land currently in Guyana. The Venezuelan military has over 100,000 soldiers with a fair amount of Russian military hardware while Guyana has about 3,000 soldiers with assault weapons and 10 Ford pick-up trucks. Guyana has no chance of defending itself on its own, which is a problem for Exxon and Chevron who just set up massive operations after the 2015 discovery of a massive oil deposit in Guyana that Venezuela is now going to take by force.
