Jason Kidd, Marcus Camby and Kurt Thomas....Do you guys think they can beat David Robinson and the Spurs this year?
Also WTF in getting fat *** Felton? Bye bye Jeremy Lin......?
I hear what you're saying. I was thinking the same thing, to a lesser degree, and didn't know how to feel about some of these pick-ups. But from what I know so far and having collected my thoughts, I think the Knicks could surprise some people and get as high as the #2 seed in the East. I think the Celts should be a little better (Terry> last year's Allen) but the fact remains Garnett and Pierce are both going to be a year older and they lose their pal in Ray-Ray so if they are better, I don't think it'll be by much...who knows they could fall off too.
The Knicks, who only finished three games behind Boston last year, could be a ton better though. Amare was God awful last year and was ripped mercifully. I see no way he doesn't play better if not a lot better this season. Carmello, by all accounts I've heard or read, has shed 15 pounds and is in (much?) better shape. Camby, who still is a great rebounder (an area the Knicks were awful in last year), should help a ton in that regard, as well as a backup or insurance policy for Chandler. He'll also be another vet who I think wants to win and can positively influence the locker room.
I think despite getting Kidd (who could be HUGE for leadership and direction) and Felton, the Knicks may still match for Lin. I read one report recently that said if the contract was a billion dollars, they'd match. ..I'm assuming because of how much the franchise will make off of his Asian influence. That's three decent point guards. And three guys who no matter how great they aren't, are still better than The Artist formerly known as Mike Bibby and Baron Davis.
Add in their re-signing of Steve Novak and, sigh, J.R. Smith, to spread the floor, and they have a pretty solid team, who I think could surprise some people and win 54 or 55 games, possibly more if they Kidd and Camby and Chandler really steer that locker room in the right direction.
