Looking at the roster I see 13 guys that should be active.

Jefferson
Okur
Kanter
Millsap
Favors
Hayward
CJ
Bell
Burks
Harris
Watson
Evans
Howard

So, who's the odd man out? The poll expires on the 29th so this is strictly for the first game.

Edit: I included Enes as an option for the D league just for experience. Not hating on him, or any of the others.

We can only dress 12 players?? Damn.

From the get-go, it will probably be Kanter, though I doubt he gets sent to the d-league. Keep in mind that tho is a 66 game season, different players will be fatigued at different times, meaning that Corbin will have to experiment with a variety of lineups.

I think it's Evans, unless Howard is not in NBA shape.

That would seriously irk me. He's our main energy guy, can't think of any other players that could fulfill that role as well. Plus, he's developing more to his game.

Speaking of the roster, damn. Our bench is actually pretty damn good. We have a lot of potential as a squad, I can tell you that much.

Yea, I agree. It's a nice problem to have. It seems like there are usually at least 2 guys on the active roster that nobody would miss.

Much as I don't wanna see it, Mr Evans will get the axe. After that, Kanter to the d-league

Just thinking since season is compressed if league might allow 13 players to dress for every game.
Might be a good idea for this season.

Actually, there will be 14 because either Tinsley or McLeod make the team. In another thread, I wrote that having Kanter as an inactive will be a mistake. Let him dress and see some action. If everybody is healthy, Evans should be the designated inactive (and D-League assignee) and the other should be Memo on occasion to rest his body during long stretches.

Or, they can just cut Raja and eliminate the second inactive. That would be the ideal solution.

I didn't watch the scrimmage (and it doesn't mean much), but it sounded like Evans was impressive?

I think Howard spends at least the first week on the inactive list. Evans dresses. And plays.

I think the roster limit of 12 is dumb. The guys get paid and work there butts on they should be able to wear the uniform. Even in a normal schedule there are nights were the starters aren't playing well so throw some guy in who is hungry to play. I remember how close B. Russell was to getting cut. He was at the end of the bench and then got the opportunity to play and he became a regular starter. I am sure coaches hate tell guys they are wearing suits. I think Evans could earn some minutes if he continues to play well. Regardless, it is going to suck for a good player.

I totally agree with this. If the league is making every team carry 13 guys why not let them all dress.

Yes, good point. And since the Jazz have a big-man coach to work specifically with Favors and Kanter, my guess is they'll want to keep Enes with the team, rather than send him to Boise. Unfortunately, this is the season the Jazz really could have used a team in Orem to their advanatage, shuttling Kanter off to play in their home games and then back to practice with the Jazz.

I agree with the fatigue factor. The inactive squad could be used to give various players some rest during the season. For example, I wouldn't be surprised to see Memo be inactive once a week.

I take it our small forward scrubs and McBrick and/or Jammal are dead men walking.

I think we'll keep Tinsley, but he'll be relegated to 14th (hence, inactive) man. The rest of them are living jazz life with an audible clock-ticking sound over their heads.
