With so much hate on this board I'm wondering who would you rather had re-signed if you absolutely had to re-sign at least 1 player.

Probably Price.

And not so he can play necessarily. Someone has to be the 5th guard, might as well be someone that offers some kind of continuity, brings some kind of history with the team to this new era, embodies what this franchise is hoping to continue (or bring back), and makes practices better.

Depends on length/cost. Obviously Price is going to be a minimum contract veteran. Fesenko might get slightly more than the veteran minimum because of his size/still relatively young. AK will most likely get around 3-5 million per year (taking into account how the new CBA will no doubt lower price of contracts. AK is looking for a long term deal, so he probably wants at least 4 years (who knows what the new max contract length may be, it might be 4 years.) AK at 3-5 million per year would be great for 4 years. If you are in a win now mode, no doubt sign AK. If you just want to throw your rookies and sophomore into the fire, then don't. I personally would sign AK.

with deron and sloan gone, i think kirilenko has the chance to flourish a little bit under coach corbin... he's still a great all-around player... we also need some veteran presence for our rookies, so it might help to resign him if he doesn't expect too much money....

Depends what is the goal - rebuild or try to win as many games and make playoffs? if rebuild I would take Price ir trying to make playoffs, then AK is no question.

I think Andrei could make for a seriously good bench player, a la 6th/7th man or something. Quick, point-forward skills etc.

No one.
1. Price. The guard who can't shoot straight. Give him some pom poms and short shorts and give him a spot with the Jazz dancers.
2. Favors, Jefferson and Millsap will/should all play 30 mins. Kanter has to get some PT. And Memo may be coming back. Fes <<<<<<<<<<< any of those guys.
3. AK. When was the last time he had a positive effect on more than 5 games in a season. He's not the future. He's not the present. He was the past...6 years ago. With all the ankle and back problems he's had, he's not as quick as he once was, and that was his whole game in terms of steals and blocks on help defense. Yes, the Jazz need another wing, but AK isn't the answer.

Fesenko: No way in hell. He's a doofus who's reached his ceiling. Too many other bigs who need minutes, why carry this loser on the team?
Kirilenko: No. He's a unique player with a special skill set. BUT, he's not a wing, he's much better underneath as a PF, and we already have enough PFs. If he's around, he's taking minutes from Hayward and Burkes, who are our future, while Kirilenko is the past. He's brittle and will eventually break down again during the season. Even at $4 million a year, it's time to cut the chord and let AK go.
Price: If we need a 5th guard to sit at the end of the bench, then why not? He sucks, no doubt, but if used sparingly, he can contribute, and he's not the dumbass Fesenko is.

I don't think that's the right veteran presence we want around our rookies. When's the last time that dude actually tried to earn his money?

I went with Kirilenko, whose contributions were not up to his salary, but have always been undervalued by muich of the board. However, Price would also be a very good signing. I think Fesenko's time has passed with our loaded front cout.

Still a great all around player? Since when? He's greatly all-around skilled but he's not a great all-around player.

I went with Fess.

Mostly because I'd rather sign rusty larue or milt palacio than Price. And I don't think AK is a good role model for our young players. Fess can be had on the cheap and is a big body.

That said I really don't see a need for any of these players to be re-signed.

I would re-sign Kirilenko if a) he will come off the bench and b) he will take a $4M per contract. With him not starting, going in and out of lineup like he sure will becomes a lesser problem and may increase his durability.

Yeah, I can see it now. After a crazy night out on the (virtual) town with AK; Burks,Kanter,Hayward, and Favors all become addicted to playing WOW and reading Russian Fantasy Novels. So addicted they all stop caring about basketball and get injured for 35% of the season each year.

Actually my point was he does not seem to work hard. He has done nothing to improve his game for 6 years and does not have the best attitude for being a leader. If re-signed he will be our longest tenured player and one of if not our main veteran presence. That is not a role I want AK in.
