What's new

Wilfred

Not bad - kind of bizarre Donnie Darko quality to it.

I'll probably keep watching, especially considering it's the lead-in to Louie.

This is my new favorite comedy. They don't blur the line on good taste, they obliterate it and **** in its boots. Wilfred loves peanut butter.

And it's all OK because the dog is make believe!

Right now, Wilfred followed by Louie is the best hour on TV.

I've been enjoying Wilfred. It's sort of like a dark weed-fueled take on an adult Calvin and Hobbes situation. It's not as high-minded (here an ironic use of the term) as Calvin and Hobbes, but they've balanced the "Wilfred as dog" and "Wilfred as guy in a dog suit" situation well. That's a real challenge, and I'm curious how long they can pull it off.

This season of Louie has been absolutely terrible...

I'm curious as to why you think this.

In particular, his bit about Tom Sawyer and dead cats curing warts had me doubled over, which is actually exceedingly rare.

I also very much enjoyed his episode in which the main segment involved shopping for a new house.

To give you an idea where I'm coming from: I thought his best season 1 episode was the Bully episode.

I thought Fes was the only one that you let, "double you over"?

I think Louis CK is a very hilarious comedian, the stand up segments of the show... make the show for me. And the premises the episodes are created on, are pretty good... he just loses me in the build up. Like the season premiere with "the fart", when CK talked about it on Daily Show the day before, it sounded like the funniest thing ever. But the show just turned out to be sad. Maybe it's just so far "blue" that I'm lost in the obscurity.

To be fair, the joke was spoiled.

Don't watch a show with expectations and don't let spoiled experiences inform you.

I thought the newest episode of Louie was frankly incredible.

As for the fart episode: that wasn't my favorite and I didn't know it was coming. However, next time you have bad gas just start yelling "my baby is dying!" and I guarantee you'll gain new appreciation for the episode.

I realize Louie has gone off a bit in a different direction this season and I can understand it certainly isn't for everyone.

But I think the writing is borderline brilliant and Louis CK is 10x more talented and original than most people imagined.

I hope he gets another shot at a movie - Booty Call might just have been his What's Up Tiger Lily
