Will Scotland leave the UK?

In less than 2 weeks Scotland will vote on whether to become an independent country. The polls seem to be neck and neck. I wonder if a yes vote would encourage the Welsh to do the same. I also wonder how much a yes vote would increase the momentum of Independence movements across Europe such as in Catalonia. Their decision could have an impact well beyond Scotland.

I didn't read the link (just being honest), but what are the odds?

I can see military implications in this for sure.. what other challenges would it create?

It would be a serious matter for the future of the UK, as well of course as for Scotland. Alba! Alba!

Nato Nuclear warheads housed in Scotland, for starters. Most Scotts want them out.

Just a few weeks ago it wasn't all that close and it looked like they wouldn't go independent. Seems like the momentum is on the side of independence.

It'll be a shocker if they do it. I bet they'll all be standing around after it's over wondering what the point was.

I haven't followed it at all.. but this is what it seems like to me, too.

That seems like it would be a big deal. I mean.. there can't be too many ideal spots to move to.. right?

I dunno. Next best bet might be talking to the Dutch about moving them to Greenland.(for all I know we already have missiles there anyway)

Yeah, I was kinda surprised to see that poll. The most surprising part was that the NO campaign sponsored poll was so close.

Also London has already offered concessions if they vote No. Either way Scotland will end up with greater autonomy so I wouldn't characterize it as for nothing.

I hope it works out well.. as I'm planning a family vacation to Ireland next summer. Would suck if they're so selfish as to interrupt family time.

Hope so. I don't give a crap about Scotland, but it would hasten the rise of anti-European Union UKIP in England, which would be fantastic.
