On the Home Tab, go to the Styles group. RIGHT CLICK Normal, then click Modify. In the middle is "formatting". And you'll see single space (has 3 horizontal lines directly on top of each other), next to that is 1.5 space (the 3 horizontal lines are a little wider apart) and next to that is double space (the 3 horizontal lines are even wider apart). Click of course single space if that's what you want.
Down at the bottom it will say "only this document" or "new documents based on this template"...you decide which you need of course.
