Middleton is really good. Don't care what people say. Somehow everyone on here that watches him play thinks he's a piece of **** who doesn't deserve to live. Haha. I don't get it. Plays his role, makes shots, plays good D. He'd fit in nice here.

Additionally, we need a top 6 pick for a greater chance at star power. Winslow... Johnson maybe.

Discuss.

Middleton is nice, but he's not a max player.

Which doesn't mean he won't get a max.

Burks is going to fit, and be great for us. Burks makes the catch and shoot 3 at a nice clip, and his on ball defense is pretty good. Burks will help us win a title one day with his ability to draw fouls at will. Burks and 12 fo Russell? I'd probably do that, though.

Grass is greener syndrome. Fortunately DL and QS aren't infected.
Judging from what they said about evaluating what qualities they need and what they don't need, I'd say the only major change - if it presents itself - is making a move to get rid of Trey. Burke is a ballstopper and a chucker. He keeps talking about moving to backup being good in the sense that it gives him more offensive opportunities. Not sure that's really the message Quin intended to give him. Whoever is put back there with him (Burks or Hood) will be shut out from the offense, just as Burke was ignoring Hayward when he was a starter. Can't have the LEAST efficient shooter taking the most shots.

Before Hood came back and showed off his shooting, I was in favor of going after someone like Matthews, DMC or even Middleton. Now, I just don't see it. Hood has the smoothest shot we've seen since Korver. He needs to get 25-30 mins. Hayward. of course, will get 33-35. And that leaves Burks, who, pre-injury, was showing a much-improved 3PT shot. But so many are wanting to just toss him aside, giving him basically garbage minutes. I say give most of the 96 wing minutes to those three, working in Jingles and Millsap as needed.

Moving two million dollar players definitely is mission zero.

Yeah, there isn't much more he will give us than we can't squeeze out of Hood. His defense is better, but Hood will have a superior offensive game which is more critical for us. We've got Hood for a few years yet at the rookie contract and a lower level rookie contract. Also, obtaining Middleton at a max means we have to drop Booker, so no thanks. . .

Yeah he is.

Not to us, sorry. Waste of money.

I mean given that we have Burks and Hood, I don't feel Middleton is enough of an upgrade to warrant another max contract, specially with Gobert's coming up a year later. He might be worth the max to another team. But I don't think he's worth it to the Jazz.

HUH? Are you talking about Trey? The mission is to IMPROVE the team. Apparently, I don't know much about basketball, but I'm pretty sure if you can upgrade a MAJOR part of the rotation (30 mins per game) who takes the 2nd highest shots per game behind Hayward, yet has the 12th LOWEST FG% on the team, the team SHOULD improve...a LOT. Oh wait, Trey is a lock-down defender and that's why Utah is willing to put up with his inept shooting.

Oh, okay, I'm being a bit harsh...12th includes a few players who didn't play much (Evans, Cotton, Johnson and Cooley). And bigs WILL have higher percentages. A player who had a terrible rookie season shooting-wise and then REGRESSED to 37%/32%, but he only makes 2 million - so no big deal. Because he's cheap, he should continue to get 30 mins/per and the Jazz will be perfectly o.k.

Of who's money? IDGAF about Greg Miller's money.

I haven't sat down and done the specifics, but if we could sign Middleton to a huge contract and not have it affect the ability to retain any of our core players (the cap is rising a ton and max contracts in this off-season will be like 10 million dollars contracts currently) why wouldn't we do it? We can have a rotation of 4 wings who are all good enough to be starters.

Quin Snyder also said he thought shutting Hayward down for the last handful of games didn't make sense....... then he sat Hayward for the last handful of games. So yeah, talk to the media is just talk to the media, nothing substantial or insightful.

Offer Matthews the max, trade Burke, slide Burks to backup PG(main scorer off bench), Hood the backup 2. Voila.

I wish more posters here would make an effort to understand what's happening with the cap over the next few years. Zero chance of adding a player like Middleton, Butler or Leonard. Their current teams will not so much as blink at matching any offer, considering what those kinds of players will cost after next year. Having said that, if we did have any chance whatsoever at adding that kind of talent, there's no question we should do it before the cap jumps. Forget the potential logjam concerns. Utah needs to be very aggressive this offseason, because the landscape is about to change dramatically. Now is not the time to stand pat, because player values are about to jump significantly. I expect this offseason to be more exciting than a lot of fans might think.
