Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Sometimes I feel as if I'm a square peg and all the rest of you are round (***) holes.
Sometimes I feel as if I'm a square peg and all the rest of you are round (***) holes.
The idiom is not generally used to convey the idea that a peg of one shape doesn't fit through a hole of another shape - as a small enough square peg will fit through a round hole, and a large enough round peg won't fit through a square hole - but rather that a peg of one shape isn't a good fit for a hole of another shape. Ironically, this is made abundantly clear in the wikipedia article cited by Cy (who apparently doesn't actually read his links, as both provided in this thread destroy his argument). This is also exactly what stoked was trying to communicate, even if he didn't use the same, completely arbitrary shapes generally used in the expression.
I enjoy correcting people who combine ignorance, arrogance, condescension and pedantry.
Also, size=width is ****ing dumb; maybe you should join Cy in that geometry class.
Does anyone else notice how Hayward almost never says anything good about Burke? It's a few days into preseason and Hayward is talking about Neto and calling him "Wolf" like they are best friends, complimenting his play during training camp. But really throughout the years I struggle to remember him saying much good about Burke. I really get the feeling Hayward doesn't like Burke at all.
And on the flip-side, does Trey ever talk about Hayward? It seems like nearly everyone compliments Hayward other than Burke.
It was very obvious last year: Hayward will not pass the ball to Burke -- anyone but Burke. Make of that what you will.
I'm so excitedCant believe tomorrow we get to watch a Jazz basketball game. #thrilled
I wish it was regular season already. Hard to get excited over pre-season games.
The most obvious time I notice it is when Burke talks about leadership. He will often mention himself and Favors, but usually not Hayward. He is legitimately the only player who doesn't name Hayward as a leader and the only one that mention himself (Burke) as a leader. I get that every PG probably refers to themselves as a leader, but I find it hilarious Burke almost refuses to mention Hayward in that capacity (from what I've seen, I may have missed it a few times, but almost certain).
