Cops are absolutely not trained to empty clips. First of all because they wouldn't call their magazine a clip. Second, they are trained to stop the threat. Period, end of story. Stop the threat. Never in training is the term :"death shot" or "kill shot" or any other such nonsense uttered. All shots must be aimed at center mass and fired with the intent of stopping the threat. Once the threat has been stopped you stop firing. Of course, in such a situation you may fire several rounds in a short time and only recognize that the threat has been stopped after you've fired what I imagine in a police pistol would be around 15 rounds.
But to specifically train to fire all your ammo no matter what? That's just plain old stupid. If that's the training you're just asking for liability lawsuits from the innocent people who are hit by those extra rounds that are being fired just because you have to empty your magazine. Give me a ****ing break.
