Hayward an Allstar?

I think Hayward playing time might diminish a little, due to the logjam at the wings. Plus, with the extra offensive firepower brought by Hill and Johnson, Hayward usage rate may also drop a little. Thus, he is probably going to average less points per game, not more - I would bet around 18. He might end up being an all-star, though, if the Jazz have a very good record - like a top 3 seed in the West - and he is their leading scorer. I think that kind of record would probably provide a chance for Gobert to be in the All-Star game also, but he would have to average at least 12 rebounds and 3 blocks per game, and not miss many contests.
My thoughts exactly

It will happen. And on that day I will call out Mission Accomplished to request a self ban, as per his assertion that it would never happen.

It's more about that, than recognition for one of our Jazz players really.

Think about it. Hayward averaged 19.7 pts a game last year. At the end of games, you take the ball out of Hayward's hands and put it in Hill's. Now you run pick and roll with Hill and Favors. Hayward camps out on the corner three. A quick P&R, a couple swing passes, and instead of a TO Hayward gets a wide open three in the corner.

Now he is averaging 23 pts a game. You do this twice a game and Hayward is averaging 23-25 pts a game.

I think Hayward is a max player and he is our best player and it's not close. I think that now that's he's not playing PG this year, he will appear even better. Just 1-2 plays a game can take him from 19.7 pts to 23-25.

Except Hayward isn't a very good 3pt shooter (35% last year) I'd rather see Hill or Hood taking that 3.

Paying a career 44%/36% shooter who doesn't take over games and can't create his own shots $30m+ is ridiculous. It will be a huge mistake because it will cost the Jazz another starter and/or decent subs to pay a non-star a franchise-player's salary.

I hope Klay and Draymond get left in the cold. Easiest way to promote discord is to have Durant bump both Green and Thompson out of the limelight. Then, complaints become public and any failures become magnified. I hope KD's experience in Oakland is miserable.

Jazz have the best young front court in the league. I hope like hell that Gobert, Favors and Hayward all come out with chips on their shoulders to prove themselves. Be the underdog, but go out there and play like they did to finish off the season two years ago. Do that, and the accolades will follow.

0 chance Green gets "left in the cold" he gets his stats by doing everything but scoring.

If it's anyone it's Klay because he will be even more of a spot up shooter and have less assist/ft attempts. Thought he might just be so amazing at shooting spot up 3's that he still scores 22+ ppg.

No way Hayward averages less PPG, at least not by anything significant. I would be surprised if he averages less than 20 ppg this year. Highly surprised if it's less than 19.

Somebody will get an all-star status if this team is in the top 5 in the west. I think the most likely is Hayward but Favors and Gobert are not too far behind as possibilities.

Hayward has been our PG the last 2-3 years. I expect his shots per game to stay the same (15) as he is by far our best player. He should be shooting it 15-20 times per game.

What I do expect, is that with the increase in talent and the better PG play, he will become more effective in his shots. It wouldn't surprise me if his 3 pt% is around 40% this year. The last year he had PG's around him that were effective (Mo Williams and Tinsley) he shot over 40% from three. I'd also expect that he will shoot around 45% from the floor. If you keep his shots the same, then he looks like this for next year:

2/5 from three
7/15 from the floor.

That gives him 16 from the floor. Then you add in 5/6 from the FT line and puts him over 20 pts a game.

He is our best player. Joe Johnson and Hill should not be taking shots from Hayward. They should be taking shots from Mack, Neto, Hood, Gobert.

Our shots should look like this:

Hayward
Favors
Hill
Johnson/Hood
then you'd hope by the end of the year that Exum is here or even above Johnson/Hood.

Of course, being an All Star is primarily a popularity contest. I could give a crap about that. I just want Hayward to be the best player and team leader on a team that wins and can contend because of their elite defense. I think he's capable of that.

Hayward's usage goes down, his efficiency goes up. How does that affects PPG? I'd guess it goes down a bit.

His usage should not go down. It should go up. He is by far our best player. By making Hayward a SF instead of a PG, you should be able to put in a position to take more shots with less defenders around him.

You don't take away shots from Hayward so Hood, Hill, Johnson, Burks, etc can shoot it more. The whole point of Johnson and Hill is to open up the floor and set up Hayward for more shots that have a better chance of going in.

The big change I'd expect this year is that Hood's usage goes down, his efficiency goes up. That is what you are looking for out of Hood.

If those players are more efficient, or not defended as well, or are able to get better looks then you do.

Sure, game by game that could happen. But over the course of the season, you'd expect Hayward's shots to go up, not down. It would be dumb to have Hayward's shots go down. He is your best player.

Best player does not mean best shooter/scorer/guy you want taking the most shots.

I'd rank our best one on one scorers as Hayward, Johnson, And Burks as a distant third because he scores, but doesn't nothing else. At least Johnson and Hayward can get points for other players.

Overall scorers as Hayward....then a huge gap and Johnson/Burks/Hood as a distant second.

I'll bet you the farm that Hayward's usage goes down. Johnson's (likely 16-18% usage) minutes comer from Ingles/ CJ (<14% usage). Booker's <15% usage goes to Lyles (likely 18-20%) and Diaw (likely 16-18%). Rudy's usage will increase. The only plus factor for Hayward is moving Burke.

Usage is zero net sum, and Hayward is happy to have help on offense. He'll use it, his assists go up and usage goes down.

Well, if the Jazz don't stink it up and Hayward is contributing a lot in wins for the team before the All-Star weekend begins and then yes, coaches would vote for him as a reserve player. It's a lot difficult making the All-star team in the west than the east cuz competition is quite tough and hella lot of extremely good players.
