Following potential 2017 draftees...

I just read an article about Isaac Austin who had to leave the game because of a heart issue, but has received treatment and has been cleared to play. He's 7'1" with a sweet outside game. He is technically an undrafted free agent. Sign him up DL.

I like Isaac Austin wish him all the best, he's also basically blind in one eye because of a basketball injury.

I doubt the Jazz are a good landing spot for him tho. 7'3" PF Jonathan Jeanne in this draft seems like a similar and superior project.

The athletic Latvian SF Rodions Kurucs got his first start of the season 2 nights ago, played 23 minutes scored 12 with 4 assists. He's only 4/18 from 3 so far.

Glad to see him back on the court and playing well, I was under the impression his preseason knee injury could affect his draft status this year.

Thomas Bryant looks to be in the Jazz range (DX mocked 21). He is only 6'10" but is 240 lbs with a 9'4" reach so has center size. Can step out and hit a 3 occasionally. He is also very young for his class won't turn 20 until July. He could get Withey's minutes next year as backup center.

I think Bryant could play some 4. I have been a fan of his.

Watching another UCLA game - they run and gun like crazy. They are the college version of the Warriors offensively. I love it. Ball has been very impressive this year. One might call him a revelation even. The playing style and personnel is helping him too - tons of shooters - they run to the corners on fast breaks and bomb 3s. I wonder if he'd be good for our system or if he'd be good enough to make Quin abandon our system and suit up for Ball-ball? The announcers compared him to Jason Kidd... that's an interesting comparison. Not sure I buy it and he's nowhere near as engaged on D, but offensively he's dropping dimes like Kidd - pin point passes, straight in the shooting pocket of both set shooters and shooters coming off screens. It's beautiful to watch really. He's averaging almost 10 assist a game in the first 8 games and he's shooting lights out. I was hoping we can somehow trade up to the early teens to draft him, but I don't think he'll last until the double digits... Both nbadraft and dx are projecting him top 5 right now and I can see why.

I think the J. Kidd-Ball comparison is a good one, Lonzo's a young Jedi with the ball in his hands and he's safely in the top6 or 7 right now. it's appropriate to call him a Quarterback out there... He's no carbon copy but thats the mold of player he is and Lonzo's a more explosive athlete.

This video is unreal. I'd have to say he's the best passer I've ever seen at the HS level, bar-none, supplanting CP3 from the top-spot.. (FWIW - Brandon Jennings would be pretty high on that list tho)

Saturday morning at 10:30 mst CBS is
#1 Kentucky vs. #9 UCLA

Two of the most lethal offenses in the nation with Kentucky ranked #5 and UCLA ranked #6 in offensive efficiency. Both teams averaging better than 95pts per game.

The difference "should" be Kentucky's defense also ranked top 5 in the country (vs. 67th).

These teams both average only 13 seconds per possession, love to play FAST, and don't turn the ball over... so could be an epic game to watch from entertainment value.

Unbiased prediction:
Kentucky - 89
UCLA - 81

The game is also on the 1 year anniversary of UCLA's upset of #1UK last year.

I have a feeling they're gonna run em off the court.. Monk vs Alford should be a decisive matchup in UK's favor..

I'm expecting Briscoe to play well, I think he's a bad matchup for UCLA.

The GOAT Japanese prospect, Rui Hachimuira had 10 points and 9 rebounds in 13 minutes for Gonzaga last night vs Mississippi Valley St.

This kid Zach Collins (who used to be Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter's backup at Bishop Gorman), is so much better than Jeter. What a joke. Good for Mark Few, he's truly a great coach and recruiter. Collins slightly reminds me of Meyers Leonard.

Rivals putting Chase Jeter at #8 is something I still hold against them. How atrocious.

If Jayson Tatum shows well for Duke I think I'd trade Rodney for his rights straight up, I could change my mind but thats where I'm at now.

He's also interchangeable with Utah's wings. Some have compared him to Grant Hill, he's certainly very skilled and has a great feel for the game.

People wont like this idea but it really saves a ****load of $$ in the next 3 seasons. Then there's still a bunch of other picks to be made..

Trade the rest of the picks for Malik Monk and you've infused some serious firepower on the team and you've got the $$ in hand to keep Favors here next to Rudy.

PG- Hill/Burks/Exum/Monk/Neto
SG - Burks/Tatum/Monk/Exum/Ingles
SF -Hayward/Johnson/Tatum/Ingles/Burks
PF -Favors/Lyles/Hayward/Diaw?
C -Gobert/Favors/Bolomboy

I feel like UNC's Tony Bradley(6'10" 7'4" wingspan) or Creighton's Justin Patton(6'11½') might be better fits. Bradley's postgame and footwork are MUCH more fluid.

Patton is shooting 80% from the field..

Also 6'9" Robert williams is worthy of mention in this convo too. He's a freak athlete like a Clint Capela and can guard the rim better than some of these taller players.

Thomas Bryant does have an element of tenacity to his game like Trevor Booker that should appeal to the FO though. Good prospect.

Watching Jonathan Isaac(FSU vs Temple) for the first time. LONG SF... Kevin Durant like. I wouldn't say he's as mobile and agile though. Maybe need to watch more, but very intriguing. Shoots the 3 very well, even off the dribble it seems. VERY GOOD passing skills and vision for the position. Seems like he doesn't know what he's doing on D(mainly off-ball), but seems to have OK lateral quickness... He might have to play stretchy playmaking 4 rather than 3. Not sure how he'd fare against NBA quickness on D... Not sure how his athleticism is... hasn't wowed me yet... might be average'ish. Shot is pure! Shoots it off the dribble, off fakes, when set... I'm not sure if I'm catching him on a night he was hot, but his shot looks really good. Also, just made some dribble moves - handle is a bit loose but has potential.

There is a guy on Temple - Quinton Rose, 6'8" SF... 18 years old. Pops on the screen when watching. Very quick and skillful, a bit skinny though... Trying to dunk on people... I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some draft hype at some point this year. Right now he's nowhere on the draft radar as far as I've seen. The kid is averaging 13/4/2 on good %s(52/37/80) with close to 1 block and 1 steal per game in 27 MPG. I like him. Have to watch more.

Leaf might be better than Lydon I never understood why the HS rankings dropped him from the midteens.

He might convert to SF easier too. His handle is really polished and he can pass.
Definitely better than Lydon, much tougher and better nose for rebounds. I think those are traits that really separate rotation stretch 4s from the fringe specialist.

But of course Leaf is just playing on the better team. You'd have to imagine Lydon would look a lot better surrounded by a starting 5 that could all make the NBA (well besides Alford, but he is a good college player).

Jayson Tatums and Marques Bolden are playing their first college minutes now.

15 and countin g in the 1st half for Kennard

Syracuse is a very good team. They've got a handful of possible NBA players around Lydon.

Frank Howard is no Lonzo Ball tho.

Despite the loss I thought Fox held his own vs Ball. That crossover in the first half was viscous.

Zach Collins on Gonzaga almost looks like a lottery pick.. He's very skilled for a 7-footer.. interesting fit in Utah IMO
