Ingles - The Priority is Utah

I am hoping the factors that make Utah attrative to Ingles are also major factors for Hayward.

I think the priority is Utah,” Ingles told foxsports.com.au. “I loved it there.”

Ingles’ newly retired wife, along with the couple’s twins, plan to move to the city of whichever team the restricted free agent signs with, and the Jazz’s investment in its players’ respective families seems to have given them a real edge.

“As a family, we really liked the city,” Ingles said.

“What the team does for the families — which is obviously a little unknown to the outside world — looking after Renae, which they do with all of the wives and families and girlfriends, and all the significant others, is amazing.

“Obviously, I haven’t been with any other NBA teams, but the way they did that was probably second to none. It’s important for me, to know she’s looked after when we’re away for, say, 10 days.”

“I still remember after my first year. I mean, we weren’t begging teams to sign me, but I knew Utah wanted me. There weren’t many other teams throwing offers, or looking at me, or talking to my agent.

“So, to be in the situation I’m in now is a bit surreal. At the end of the day, it’s gonna be the best decision for me, Renae, and the kids, and hopefully that’s in Utah.

“But, again, you just don’t know.”

Will the Jazz’s core remain intact?

While the season was one where the team exceeded expectations, before more injuries became a factor in their demise, there still seems to be a lot of belief amongst the core.

“We haven’t sat down like, ‘I’ll re-sign if you re-sign’ or ‘you take less and I’ll come back’ or ‘hey, let’s just split the money between the three of us’,” Ingles joked.

“It’s just more of those general conversations that, we wanna see what we can do with a healthy lineup. Just that fact of, imagine what we could be if we were healthy. That was the main thing that would come up with our group.”

Ingles is a part of that core, and his decision seems to be set. He’d like to remain a member of the Jazz, should everything fall into place.

"wives, girlfriends, and significant others"

Damn, the Jazz even take care of the mistresses?

Gotta love him

My ideal world has Hayward reupping for just 4/110, Hill 3/50, Ingles 3/25. A complete pipe dream I know but the idea of selflessness to stay together and build a winning team is my dream.

Ingles is a part of that core
who ever thought they'd read these words? He is such a better player than he was to start, i am baffled. Not an all star or anything, but if he's our steve kerr, i'll take it.

Am I the only one that finds unbelievable that someone that makes millions every year has to worry about how much they make?

Give me one yeat of Ingles money and I'm set for life! I thought that players that make that much money would be "more willing" to make "a little less" to make the team strong.

The Jazz need to make him a fair offer immediately after free agency opens, and he'll resign. We don't want to have to match something, because I'm sure that will be much higher.

I think we're far enough into the DL era that the strategery of KOC is left in the dust.

I agree here. I'd try to get him at 4/36 4/40 with incentives... He can likely get more per year, but if we offered that out of the gate it might be enticing enough to get him to sign. If we can sign him immediately it will help with recruiting Hayward back.

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves but is it too early to start the construction of the Joe Ingles statue outside the arena... maybe reserve a whole corner and recreat the Ingles to Hayward alley oop?
