Second place in the East just means you are approx. 5th best team in the NBA.
That was a great piece by David
I think they could have any (good) coach and their chances would be the same. They aren't a Hayward contender cuz of Stevens, it's because they are the 2nd best team in the East.
He could push for a S&T to Cleveland or could go to the spurs if it was just about winning. Boston ain't nothing special as currently constructed. If anything, watching Chicago get fleeced by Minny for Butler is pretty telling of how serious Ainge is about winning now, which is what Gordon's after.

Then why were there rumours about him joining BOS even before BOS was the 2nd best team?I think they could have any (good) coach and their chances would be the same. They aren't a Hayward contender cuz of Stevens, it's because they are the 2nd best team in the East.

Favors, bolomboy, jj, maybe even diaw again? If we resign our FAs who in the world plays the 4 next season with Joe
It was a piece all right. A real piece.
I dislike contributing to "Hayward will stay/leave threads" because I find the arguments pro or con to be inane. At this point, I don't think even Hayward knows where he will end up, because he has yet to see any offers.
My own personal opinion -- which is worth no more than the change you could find in my sofa -- is that Hayward is predisposed to remain with the Jazz, provided we offer him the best package he can get. Note that he schedules a meeting with Jazz management on July 3rd, two days after he receives offers from every team interested in him. I suspect the timing of the meeting is to give DL an opportunity to "revise" the Jazz offer to include whatever creative incentives other GM's included as sweeteners. But then, I'm only guessing.
Thus I make my own inane contribution to the discussion. (I should have resisted the temptation and just gone to bed.)
