Its Kanter, D-Will2.0, and Knight in no particular order

It looks like Kanter, D-Will2.0 and Knight will be "The One." And now I know why all the analyst say this is one of the weakest drafts in NBA history. Not one of these top guys doesn't have warts. Kanter is not a true center and wants to play PF, D-Will2.0 is still carrying baby-fat, and knight is a shoot first point guard that doesn't fit the traditional Utah Jazz model.

Saying all that we can use any one of them. Since winning the lottery, I have tried to read everything possible and watch all the videos on each of these players and although they may not be Wade, Kobe, etc. they will each help make the Jazz better. I'm really pumped to be a Jazz fan. It seems everyone has a favorite and I love that people are trying to convince others that their guy should be "The One." Me personally, I have decided to just be happy we have the 3rd pick.

It is entirely possible Kyrie Irving is our choice as well, as many have stated. It is not too hard to see how that happens. It happens if:
1. Cleveland takes Derrick Williams as #1
2. Kahn decides he doesn't need another PG, as Rubio is the future for them there. At least that is what he hopes. So they take Kanter.
3. Jazz have their pick of Irving or Knight.

Irving has to be in the discussion. Don't forget about him. I think he will be there at 3.

If Irving is there...

Then the Jazz put together a package around Devin Harris for Nic Batum, trade up from 12 to pick Biyombo, and call it a day.

Irving measured about 6'3 in shoes, that blew away everyone's expectations. He is #1 and there will be no doubt about it.

Have you read any of Cleveland's message boards. They need a point guard and Irving is their guy. No way Irving drops to 3. But one can dream.

Now THAT is a pipe-dream. Of the approximately one-bajillion trades that were rumored to be shot down by the Blazers because they wouldn't include Batum makes you think Devin Harris will get it done? I don't know how you feel about Matthews, but he seems like a more likely target since the Blazers still have a glut of SGs and most of their money tied-up in the position.

But yeah, if we're working in terms of pipe-dreams, I'm into it.

So, just to double check, you think there is a 0% chance that Cleveland takes Derrick Williams? I don't buy it.

It would be extremely hard to do a deal with Portland, who have shown the drive to go out of their way to **** with us.

Not only is Irving the best prospect, but when you are rebuilding you start with PG and center. I know Lebron turned them around without either, but he is a once in a decade player.

Cleveland needs everything. And they are not set at the SF/PF, as you can see from their depth chart below. PG is not their only need.

Here is their Depth Chart, according to ESPN:
PG:Ramon Sessions Baron Davis
SG:Anthony Parker Daniel Gibson Manny Harris
SF: Alonzo Gee, Christian Eyenga, Joey Graham
PF: J.J. Hickson, Samardo Samuels, Luke Harangody, Antawn Jamison
C: Ryan Hollins Semih Erden Anderson Varejao

They could use Williams and Irving. They will take the best player available. I personally think that is Williams. I don't think that's a dream. Is Irving that much better than Williams?

Jazz pick 3rd so they'll get one of these guys, or Kanter. I'd be happy with anyone except for Knight. Not a Jazz PG.

Not always true. Kevin Durant, D-Wade, Kobe, etc... all turned franchises around. You don't have to start with a PG and center.

There 3 does look pretty weak. Would you rather have Irving/Leonard or DWill2/Knight? really what it comes down to

How do you know? We have a new coach that hasn't implemented a system yet. He very well could be a "Jazz PG" in Ty's system. That and his numbers are nearly identical to Deron's his freshman year, accept for the points. He was the number one scoring option on his team, Deron wasn't. His stats at Kentucky this year stack up to Deron's career stats fairly well, and he's the same size (needs to put on weight, obviously) is a better shooter, right on par with athleticism and overall speed (Deron has a quicker first step). The claim that he is not a Jazz point guard just because he scored a lot of points and had his share of turnovers is a completely bogus claim.

I was referring to his generally low assist per minute and his rather high turnover percentage. Don't get me wrong, if the Jazz pick Knight, I will be be happy even though he is my personal least favorite out of the three likely to fall to the Jazz.

Even Irving has warts. Yes he is 6'3", but 10.2 percent fat. When I read he has been practicing 2 hours a day my first thought "was that all." This is the biggest job interview of his life and he shows up out of shape. Depressing. That said, I would still love to have him or Knight warts and all.

Cleveland could very well take Derrick Williams at #1 and take either Knight or Walker at #4. Irving is the better pick at 1 by itself, but the Cavs have to look at this draft more holistically and compare Irving + Kanter/Leonard/Vesely vs. Knight/Walker + Derrik Williams. It all depends on how high they are on Derrick Williams.

I'm just not impressed with Knight. He seems fine but not outstanding - like stuff you can find in the teens, maybe even the 20s. Rajon Rondo was picked 21. I just don't like the idea of wasting the #3 pick on a better than average PG. Maybe.

I feel pretty good with the Jazz getting the 3rd pick since it guarantees one of Irving, Williams, or Kanter. But all this Knight-love kind of freaks me out. If the Jazz draft him with one of these other guys still on the board I will be so disappointed.

You continue to use Rondo as your only example of elite point guards taken outside of the top 10. Yes, he is an excellent example, but he was far from a sure thing coming out of college, too. He averaged fewer assists than Knight did in his freshman year and only .6 more his sophomore year, had a horrible jump shot, and his only real strengths were speed and rebounding (hardly a quality you need from your pg). Maybe Knight IS a point guard you can typically find in the teens, but not this year. This year, he is among the 4 or 5 players with the most upside and potential in the draft, due to an admittedly weak draft. It doesn't matter what happens in other drafts, he's a top 5 player in THIS draft and a guy we need to look long and hard at if Williams and Irving are off the board.
