What's new

Not saying we should but would you trade Alec Burks for...

If Kosta and Temple pick up their options in Sacramento an AB/Udoh for Temple/Kosta saves them some cap space and helps alleviate the logjam of bigs.

I have liked Temple for a while and Koufos is a good backup center.

I'll add AB for Tyson Chandler to the list of swapping expirings. If we waived Udoh and did the swap there would be a small savings and we'd clear a roster spot.

I wonder if we could do a Faried, Hernangomez for AB/Udoh swap. Send them a 2019 second rounder. Cuts their salary by $4M if they don't pick up Udoh's option. They might waive and stretch Faried, but subbing in AB and stretching him lowers the cap hit and overall payout. They likely do something to avoid the tax next year.

This is the type of trade I thought could happen around the deadline. Depending on how much money we have left after presumably resigning Exum and Favors, picking up some expiring deals to get a guy like Hernangomez would be great. Burks would make sense for Denver because I think they're probably losing Barton.

I just don't think there are many competitive teams that think they can use him. I may be too down on him, but he just won't function in our system. I think they'd likely stretch him and I don't think Denver would include Hernangomez in the deal, but he has had a rough year so who knows how they view him.

This **** keeps getting dumber and dumber, and dumber and dumber and dumber.

let burks expire (along with Thabo, udoh, jerebko, Rubio?) and use the money to get kahwi/klay/jimmy butler.

FWIW, I originally was going to say we get the Clips 2019 1st (top 15 protected)...but then for some reason, I thought that we'd be getting too much.

Nah it’d cost at least that. They don’t need to move him yet and are likely not a player in this years FA. They will likely be patient.

Hoping the Wizards implode and decide to offload Otto Porter. It would cost some assets, but he’d fit a team need and the culture.

Look at Wall's contract renegotiation. Holy ****! $46 mill in 2023, 38 next year. That's slightly more than Steph gets in 2022. Washington is chained to Wall, Porter, and Beal. That team is the Yankees or Dodgers but with a true salary cap.

I think we can still move AB and follow this plan, but I don’t think those guys are coming and I don’t think Butler or Kawhi actually hit FA... both can be extended this offseason and I think both will want to be.

I think you are looking at Khris Middleton, Tobias Harris, or similar in FA 2019.

Another thing to watch for is using AB and the expirings in a sign and trade for Jabari or Aaron Gordon. I think it’s very unlikely and we’d likely surrender a first to get it done but I think Parker is out of Milwaukee next year and Gordon could be on the block... I think the Magic have to be nervous about paying him 20M plus per year.

Jazz don’t need to sell cap space for assets. I’d prefer that they keep their options for 2019 and 2020 as open as they can. The Jazz need a third star to take the next step forward to contender.

Short contacts with team options would be best (like they did with Thabo, Jerebko and Udoh) or buying guys in a trade with a higher cap # on their expiring contract than the guy they give up would be a close second.

Which is why they may try and move OP for lower cost assets. If they stay status quo Oubre likely is gone and they need to fill out the roster with cheap options. They are in trouble.

Plus, there’s been rumors that they like Oubre better than Porter. I could see them looking to offload Porter’s contract and get some cap space and cheap assets in the process. It would take Utah trading AB, Thabo, Jerebko and Udoh to make the numbers work.

That would leave the Jazz with Gobert, Bradley, Crowder, Porter, Jingles, O’Neale, Mitchell, Rubio (about $95 million) plus the Bird rights for Favors and Exum. Fill the last 5 spots with rookies, cheap vets, G-league guys and the next surprise Euro star. . .

DL would need to believe that Otto Porter takes a big step up under Snyder in this system. If his career arc is like Hayward’s. . . it might be worth the risk.

I think we will have to send a pick this year or next to get it done. Not sure they’d do it just to dump salary this offseason. Next year they might.

2018 AB = 2013 Brandon Rush. Oversimplification. He needs to go somewhere to hit the reset button with low expectations, and then exceed them and regain confidence.

****s wrong whichoo troll? Gallo ain't no damn 3 point threat. FFS. We gots Tha Jerebko playin mo betta both sides tha ball. We gots us Jingles, Jae, Thabo... why the hell you wanna add 22 mill for two more seasons for a nobody? Is ya havin a concussion?

Sum the ******** people come up wit.
Gallinari is definitely a 3 point threat. He is legitimately equal to Hayward on the offensive end. He just cant stay healthy.

If I knew he could stay healthy I would be all for it, but he has really proven to be one of the most injury prone players in the NBA.

I would have been tempted at swapping Burks' 2 years for Livingston's 3 years plus their #31 this year and two 2nd rounders. Livingston is only guaranteed 2 mill in 3 years. Nick Young's expiring could have been taken on too to give them cap relief this year (they're deep into LT).

Waiving Burks on the 3 year stretch provision and taking on Klay so the Warriors don't go deep into LT is the obvious choice for both teams. We are talking well over 100 mil in LT to keep this team together. Projections have them as high as 322 mill in 2022. That's probably about 200 mill over the line, with a repeater tax × 4.5 meaning a total salary of 1.2 billion.

Joe Lacob is worth 1.5 billion. He's not keeping this racket going. Draymond and Klay are up for cheap sale after KD signs. Work in a 3 way to unload Iggy's monstrosity and everything equals out. Send Iggy and Draymond plus multiple picks to Utah, Favors and Klay somewhere for a high draft pick to Utah, and Burks and filler expirings Udoh and Thabo to GSW. They keep a winning bench with those 3 additions, Utah gets that punk *** Green, and the other team gets a better player tgan they could draft with a 5 or 6 pick, plus Favors.

Fits better than Faried and offers salary cap relief. That's the point.

If there's a team that really wants Alec, we can include him as a throw-in to a trade. However, at his $11M salary, that isn't likely. It's probably best just to let him expire next year and keep him as a 10th man of sorts, giving us the freedom to trade someone else. It's probably not worth taking back baggage to move Burks.

For example, having Burks on our roster made it a little easier to move Rodney Hood this year, since he could play some back-up minutes at the 2.
