What's new

Sorry Jazz fans – Ben is the NBA Rookie of the Year

After tonight, even if Simmons wins -- because they vote before the playoffs, I believe -- I don't see how anyone can not pick Mitchell. It was simply Jordanesque the way he came out in the second half. Sure Westbrook scored more points but he took almost twice as many shots.

I dunno... Mitchell scoring 38 points tonight just proves he's a chucker, right?

With that many shot attempts, even Trey Burke would have scored 40+ points.

Mitchell did play well tonight. His rubbish shooting in the 5th game costed Jazz the game though. At the moment he is alternating between " good " and " rubbish " shooting night. He needs to improves his shot selections and effienciency.

Still blows Ben away so far as shooting, but agree he needs to improve and with his mechanics no doubt that he will.

Donovan Mitchell is just a starter if not 6 man off the bench moving forward. Simmons is an elite defender and.. really just generational talent. Mitchell is throwing up like 19 shots a game to get that 20 points. He is good.. but not a high ceiling talent wise than Simmons. Frankly no GM or fan even would consider trading Simmons for anything including Mitchell and everything else you can throw in too.

The Jazz would not consider trading Mitchell for Simmons either. A 6 man? I know that was a shot to get me upset, but I'm not. Simply because you have said something that reveals your limited knowledge when it comes to the sport of basketball. Limited because your probably composing these messages from the basement of your mothers house, or guest room of her trailer. Your also more than likely born after 1992 making your basketball IQ amongst those of brain damaged primates. Simmons and the Sixers are in a conference where half of your teams don't belong in the playoffs. The ENTIRE NBA is debating eliminating the 2 conferences to the top 16 teams because your conference can't even look competitive during the Playoffs.

Philadelphia beat Miami.
Miami had a regular season win/loss of 44 wins and 38 losses.
Miami won 44 games out of 82 games, playing mostly Eastern conference teams.
If they were in the west they would be a 10th seed and not come close to making the playoffs.

Congrats to Philadelphia.. They beat a team in the Miami Heat whos starting 5 consisted of
Goran Dragic- 31 years old, 17 ppg, 4.8 apg, 2.2 turnovers, 32 mpg, 0.8 Spg, 0.2 BPG, 75 games played.
(older, can't defend, can't distribute, respected minutes to show his worth and couldn't do it.
Tyler Johnson- 25 years old, 11.7 ppg, 2.3 apg, 1.1 turnovers, 28.5 mpg, 0.8 spg, .5 bpg, 72 games played.
(how is this guy a starting player in the NBA?? Any other team he would be G-League.
J. Richardson- 24 years old, 12.9 ppg, 2.9 apg, 1.7 turnovers, 33.2 mpg, 1.5 spg, 0.9 bpg, 81 games played.
(this guy is also a starter!! Any other team???...... Yep, bench warmer, water boy.
James Johnson- 30 years old, 10.8 ppg, 3.8 apg, 1.9 turnovers, 26.6 mpg, 1.0 spg, 0.7 bpg, 73 games played.
Some of the better stats from your team came from this guy, and still inconsistent productivity.
H. Whiteside- 28 years old, 14.0 ppg, 1.0 apg, 1.7 turnovers, 25.3 mpg, 0.7 spg, 1.7 bpg, 54 games played.

This is the team that you beat!!! Congratulations!!!! A team with nothing but bench players, but hey, welcome to the East!!!

Lmao!!

You went hard

If you would like to speak about efficiency, you should probably learn how to spell it. Not the word (because of the meaning) that you would want to misspell.

Yea in the 5th game he shot 1/7. That isn't a performance to be proud of, but that ONE SINGLE shot he made was more that Simmons made in an entire 82 game season of which he played 81 of those games.

Game 4 he shot 3/8 from the arc @ 38%, not far off from Simmons free throw percentage.

I'm being a little harsh, because I know Simmons is actually a real legit player in the league, not to mention, I love Embiid's play, demeanor, comment's etc.

But lets mention efficiency,, or (Effienciency) as you like to call it.
Ben Simmons - Free throw%- 56% Is that efficient?
So bad at shooting 3's he doesn't even attempt them. Isn't that a must for a Point Guard?? 0% ALL YEAR LONG
Philadelphia 76'ers- Tanked from 2013 to 2017 to assemble a team that could win more than 40 games. Is that efficient?
- Won 75 games over 4 years combined. Efficient??

I did post many times about Dante,
I have also discussed one of the favourited aussie sports, cricket, with felllow aussie posters here.
I were actually the one who started the cricket conversation. You moron.

https://jazzfanz.com/threads/sorry-jazz-fans-–-ben-is-the-nba-rookie-of-the-year.88624/page-7

Your familiar with cricket because that's all you heard for 4 straight years while your team intentionally lost games. (Crickets) And that's also what you hear when you come home, walk into your bedroom in your mothers basement, only to converse with the motionless pleasure doll you keep under your bed. Sadly that motionless doll is the best thing you have going for you right now.

Then Good luck finding a 76ers player
who is currently playing better than simmons in the playoff .
( 19pts /11rbds /10ass/2.5stl)
In fact simmons is the best player across both teams so far in the series.

Once again, Philadelphia is in the East and beat a team that would've been a 10th seed in the West.

He is leading the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals , but is not the best player of the team ? what can one say.

After 4 years of tanking and intentionally losing, your team finally landed someone that can do something other than sit on the sideline and bleed and be excused to not play instead of going on the court and being a man. Oh wait, never mind, he did that for an ENTIRE YEAR. Forget what I said.

Let's be honest, any team in the west would also get swepted by the Rockets and warriors.

If Philly was in the west they'd get swept by the Phoenix Suns, if Phoenix was actually trying to play basketball and not trying to tank like the 76'ers had done for 4 years straight. (1,460) days. You were like 8 years old when they started "trusting the process".

When.a player takes a million shots like mitchell, of course he is going to score a lot. What is so special about that ?

He didn't take
hack~a~ben does not work anymore.
Ben is now shooting 71% FT in the playoff.

Are you really bragging because a POINT GUARD is shooting 71%?? Yea that is an improvement, but Point Guards are supposed to make free throws, and make them at a more "EFFICIENT" rate than 71% bro..

No, you are very wrong. Taking 2 point shots inside the paint is simply more efficient than chucking 3s and benefit your team more. And this is exactly what simmons is doing.

Let's do some maths:
Mitchell is a 30 % 3 point shooter, Ben is a 55% 2 point shooter, lets say they each takes 10 shots

mitchell 10×3×0.3= 9 poiints
simmons 10×2× 0.55= 11 points

As you can see, if you are an efficient shooter inside the paint like Ben, your team actually gain more points from simmons' scoring inside the paint than mitchell's 3 balls. Hope this make sense to you.

Let's do some maths:?
Ok,
Lets do some math, hopefully it's better than your spelling.
Mitchell is not a 30% 3 point shooter, he is a 34% regular season and a 36.4% playoff 3 point shooter.
Simmons is 0%
Mitchell made 187 of them and attempted
Simmons actually did not attempt one single genuine 3 point shot during the regular season. All of his 3 point shots were full court or half court heaves. No one would expect these shots to go in.

Actually you are incorrect. Simmons didn't attempt on 3 pointer from beyond half court. All were attempted within. How do I know? There is a stat for that. Would you like me to say your famous quote, "Let's do some maths?" Which would actually translate to, "Let is do some maths". But don't worry, I will do my best to not exploit the ignorance that you don't display by your damn self.

On basketball-reference.com enter in Simmons name and scroll down to "Shooting". You will see where all of his 11 attempts were within striking distance and not one is in the column labeled as "heave"
