Sorry Jazz fans – Ben is the NBA Rookie of the Year

BOSTON – With 5:29 to play in the fourth quarter of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, with the 18,624 in attendance roaring and Philadelphia clinging to a two-point lead, Sixers coach Brett Brown made a critical mistake.

He subbed in Ben Simmons.

Bet you never in his career read a line like that about DM.

Did u guys know DM scorednthe 3rd most points in the 4th quarter during the regular season... did you also know he is first in 4th quarter points in the playoffs...

DM is Clutch!

Everyone had bad games before, so why can't simmons have a bad game ? Lol

Fact is, you're right, for the most part. We should expect rookies to struggle, especially, at times. Mitchell started off the year rough. He's had a few rough ones here and there. Never to the tune of 1 point, but still. That being said, he is not only holding his own in the playoffs, he's carrying a huge load for his team and putting up historic numbers for a rookie. Simmons could be great. I love that we have Mitchell.

Many mitchell fans obviously care about this award, that is why they keep bumping up this thread. Mitchell obviously wanted this award desperately, hence his stupid antics of wearing the " rookie " hoodies.
If "wanting it" makes someone pathetic, I have some bad news for you regarding Simmons.

I think the point is Mitchell was never in the conversation for being a top 3 pick let alone top ten.

He's still talking with hindsight which is pretty sensible because its easy to be right, so why not actually be right?

Please don't say "retard." Even in a joke. It's a slur.
I don't care for this "politically correct" b.s. It's fake and dishonest, and retarded. People should use whatever words they want. If it shows their bias or prejudice, so be it. At least it's transparent. Political correctness is very similar to euphemism, a common method of concealing truth.

But Mitchell was never in the decision making process of who to take. I'm sure the debate within the org was between Tatum and Fultz, and in hindsight they should've taken Tatum over Fultz because he looks like the better player. It's not a slight to Mitchell. Had Mitchell been thought of a top three pick, then I'm sure He would've mentioned Mitchell over Tatum had The C's drafted Mitchell.

Sure they can, but what's wrong with people asking someone else to not use a word because it offends someone, and what's wrong with respecting that

You're not getting my point. It goes beyond that, and there's nothing wrong with someone asking not to use a word or phrase, depending on the situation. But it depends on your audience and I don't think it applies here.

yeah but he still hasn't got the real number 1 pick right, just like Simmons isn't a real rookie.
