Feast or Famine Free Agency

And Love would be fine on defense in Utah. Cleveland's defensive problems are systematic and really have nothing to do with Love.

Please say you are joking. Do I need to explain sample size to you as well as how trades work?

This is coming from the brain surgeon who proposed we sign and trade unrestricted free agent Favors for restricted free agent Jabari Parker while also giving Parker $18 per year: https://jazzfanz.com/threads/the-ultimate-best-elite-world-class-jazz-off-season-guide.91710/ You genius you....

Love also shot 27% from 3 in the 7 game Boston series. When the going gets tough, Love gets going. Away. To irrelevance. If Cleveland didn't try to force feed so much to the guy, he wouldn't average much at all. The only time the Cavs will beat Golden State in 4 tries will be the same series Love averaged 7ppg, 6rpg playing 23mpg. http://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/3449/year/2016/kevin-love

Double sign and trades are allowed... What's the problem here?

Hey Cy fanboy. Good to see you come so quick to his defense.

There isn't a problem. Lil man Cy does his best to shoot down other people. When he proposed this ridiculous thought process, most chose to look the other way. Even me. I chose to take the high road. But let's analyze the trade for fun:

- yes, it could potentially work financially to sign and trade UFA Favors for a sign and trade of RFA Jabari. It happens about as much as Cy getting laid (practically never), but it could happen I guess
- do we even want Jabari? Does he even fit? Is he a distraction?
- do we want to pay Jabari $18 million a year?
- does Milwaukee even want Favors?
- does Milwaukee want to pay Favors similar money to Jabari? What would that contract look like?
- is Milwaukee committed to going into the luxury for Derrick Favors?

All of those are valid questions with very legitimate issues attached to them making the trade highly unrealistic. But hey, I'm the idiot for posting trade ideas.

And yes, playing with LBJ is nice for some players, but it's also hard for guys to get a rhythm when everything they do offensively is a spot-up jumper and playing off ball. Love would probably be better in Utah where he would be afforded more touches and playmaking opportunities.

Quin always tries to get the bigs touches just to make sure they are involved... Love offers much more than Favs and Gobert 18-20 feet and would make our DHOs and ball screens much more effective.

Seeing how Hill, Hood, Clarkson, Nance, etc. have performed alongside LBJ is important. Guys that don't need the ball to be effective do better. He can take a guy who is a spot up shooter that defends and make them look like a starter (Dellavadova) or he can make an offensive superstar become a glorified role player (Bosh and Love?).

It is 100% about asking price... Expirings and one future pick - sign me up. More than that... probably a pass. I bet another team will give more. Indiana likely gives a pick, Sabonis or Leaf, and salary relief.

Before this playoffs he was a 43% 3pt shooter in the previous 3 finals runs. Again, do I need to explain sample size?

Jerebko shot 0.1% less from 3 this year.
Mostly on a diet of corner 3's w/ a low% on above the break 3's w/ low volume all around.

Love was high volume and shot 42% from above the break. Spacing comes more from above the break shooters. Corner specialist like Jerebko are taking advantage of Gobert's vertical spacing on rim dives, not providing it.

Locke is talking about stretch 4s and Gobert and the Off Def rating stuff today on his podcast.

As I listen I think having a Trevor Ariza stretch 4 is more important than a Kevin Love stretch 4. Jonas/Jae/Thabo may be able to patch together and give us enough there. Wait until FA next year to get the LT solution... unless something falls in our lap.

Nothing about Love's contract bothers me. It's a very fair deal. The only thing that keeps you from wanting to add him is the cost of a trade. I have no idea what that would be in the event of Lebron leaving Cleveland.

Love shot a three every 5 minutes he was on the court. Jerebko every 7 minutes. More volume wouldn't change the numbers.

Who do you think defenders stay closer too? Watch Love pump fake then side step and shoot a 3... Can/Would Jonas do that?

Don't even entertain these clowns. They really want to get into a debate about Love not being an elite stretch 4 and that Jonas is right there with him in terms of shooting ability.

I don't always agree with Cy, but I think I'm lockstep here. Love would be good if healthy. If he is sold to the highest bidder and it is on the cheaper side I'd be all for getting him... if it cost multiple firsts/prospects or a first and eating other contracts then I'm out.

I like Jonas, but he takes a half hour to load his shot and so dudes can play off and recover pretty easily. Looking at pure percentages is a mistake when evaluating what guys bring.

Love had a 120 off rating this year and a 109 def rating... better than LBJ by a hair. He has value... at the highest levels he can have some flaws that may or may not get exposed... most players do.
