2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Henson was out anyway. They got Smith too from Washington. They are fine. Hill is the best player in that trade... and the best contract as he expires essentially. They made out like bandits. The pick is pretty well protected and won't be for at least two years. Got off 18M in dead money next year and got a player upgrade as well.

They did quite well.

Agreed. If they could get off Snell, they could be in the hunt for one of the big names next FA, even after resigning Middleton or Bledsoe which could be huge.

Yeah, I forgot about the injury. And I would do the trade as well. They got out of 2 of their worst deals. Now they can keep both Middleton and Lopez. They still need a back-up center, though.

And Hill shoots well but it feels more like bad team stats and he has fallen off defensively. They don't have to play Donte at PG now, though so he will still be useful.

The Bucks absolutely crushed that trade. 2 worthless players on 2 year deals, likely nonlottery 1st and some 2nd rounders for an expiring two way vet who can play.

They have such a bright future. Incredible work.

Diamond77 is not a Dante fan, he can’t be? Surely he just posts crap so people will then attack Exum? He’s an anti-Dante sleeper cell!

I'm sorry for you but I'm an Exum fan.

If I were the coach I would start him over Rubio and give him unlimited trust.

Rubio is a better player now but the Jazz need Exum to blossom definitively.

Look how is playing Burks with the Cavs with the coach trust, more minutes and more freedom to play his game.

Quin is biased with some young talented players that don't fit in his system.

LMAO. Rubio is 10X player Exum is.

10X player Exum is? Let's not exagerrate.

In my opinion Rubio is a good player that plays with passion but he is not a winning player and he is inconsistent as well.

I'm not in favour of resigning Rubio.

Rubio can not be the future, to re-sign it would be a very serious mistake, the position of 1 and 4 is to be improved ... with Rubio you can not compete to win ..

I totally agree with you, if we want to become a serious contender, position 1 and 4 have to be upgraded.

So let's run through the numbers. We know our Front Office overvalues and is sometimes reluctant to scrap what we have for the prospects of something new. Let's just say we bring back Rubio at $10 million (pretty fair I guess) and Udoh OR Thabo at $2 while we let the other one go:

For 2019-20, we have the following contracts:
Gobert $25
Favors $16.9 (team option)
Ingles $12
Rubio $10
Exum $10
Crowder $7.8
Korver $7.5
Mitchell $3.6
Allen $2.5
Bradley $2
Udoh/Thabo $2
Neto $2 (team option)
Niang $1.6 (team option)
O'Neale $1.6 (team option)
Draft pick cap hold $2
TOTAL: $106 million (salary cap is $109 for 2019-20)

So in other words, if we brought back Favors, Korver, Neto, Niang, O'Neale, Rubio at $10 and either Thabo or Udoh at $2, we are pretty much capped out. We would only have the MLE to spend.

For those people who love Favors and Rubio AND think DL is planning something big this summer, you can't have both.
