So no trades.... DL has done a GREAT job as GM. But this is the biggest L he has taken in a long time. Nothing worthwhile is going to be available to us this summer in free agency. This was the time to make a move. Whether it was to improve the team now or punt an opportunity down the road by picking up an asset.

Standing pat and re-signing Favors and Rubio this summer gets us absolutely nowhere. But it seems like that's where we are heading. ****

Here's the rest of the post trade deadline interview talking points template...

- Just want to start by saying how stressful of a time of year this is. We're talking about real people, with real families, whose lives are put on hold and want to acknowledge the stress they experience as their names are in headlines, and want to recognize them for the professional manner in which they handle themselves.

- Look, it's my job to improve the team and I've always gotta be looking at every scenario that accommodates that. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes we don't feel we're getting equal value in return. There are hard decisions, but overall we really like our guys. You look at what we did last year ... [drop some sentiments], you look at how far we've come this year [more sentiments] and the progress we've made and the terrific impact [talk about Rudy and Donovan].

- When we look at the advanced stats, we find [insert some really positive stat that shows how good this group is].

I believe you forgot the quote about Allen's hand pad strength has gotten even better and that Tony Bradley's balance beam routine has improved by 27%.

The three moves that stuck out to me as the ones we should have done:

Otto Porter - Not sure he's worth his contract, but the asking price was two dudes that are expiring that they likely don't bring back... they like Favs... so Favs and a pick would have worked.
Niko - I get it... we can get him this summer... 30 game sample is helpful when making a long term offer. A first still beats 4 seconds imo.
Barnes - Hearing some say he might not be good... ball stopper. He shoots it well and can play the stretch 4. Can get buckets in isolation. hard working dude... played on a championship team that used a lot of ball movement... I think he'd be okay here.

So you better have a good FA plan... if we had a wink and a nod from Tobias, like some kind of suggested, we would not have been in the Conley discussion.

I think the Jazz were only going to make the trade unless it would clearly benefit them over the long haul because no way they are going to make a run for the title this year. Only way would've been if they got both Gasol and Conley. Apparently, Conley doesn't want to come here either. So, why trade two good players who want to be here and that the fanbase loves? So, that's it. End of story.
