Official UofU homer thread

I gotta say im a little disappointed in the ute fans on this website for lack of posting activity in this thread. This is the best team in program history and might end up being the best season in program history and there is hardly any activity in this thread. Hell i still see more ute posts in the comment section of byu related articles than in the comments section of ute related articles.
Come on guys, lets get some action in this thread. Such a great season!
Ok, enough shaming, lets get some discussion.
What are the odds that Utah gets into the playoffs? 30% seems about right to me. I figure LSU, Clemson, and Ohio State are pretty much locks. So there is one open spot left. Who are the teams with a shot at that position? Utah, Georgia, alabama, oklahoma, baylor? (I dont follow college football very close other than byu and utah so im not sure i have those teams right or if im missing any teams)
Who does everyone think gets that final spot? Am i right about the other three teams being a lock or does anyone think there will be an upset?

Are Ute fans just bored by all the easy blowout wins and that's why there hasn't been much posting maybe? I kinda get that.

That Oregon loss hurts you guys. I think you need to beat them by about 30 to have a chance to get into the playoffs.

Iawtp.

Actually looks like Baylor is out of the running. So Georgia, bama, Utes, Oklahoma? That's about it right? Utes have a better chance than I thought they did after all.
If all those teams win out then would Georgia be the 4th team? (They would have to beat LSU in the championship game). Would LSU still get in?
If Georgia lost to LSU then would bama get in since their only loss would be to the #1 team which would be the best loss possible? And it was a close loss iirc.

If Oklahoma handily beats a highly ranked Baylor in their championship game (does the big 12 even do championship games? Idk) would they get in ahead of the Utes? How far does Oregon drop in the polls after their loss to AZ state?

I believe for Utah to get in they must Dominate their last 2 games including Oregon. Alabama must lose to Auburn, Georgia must lose to LSU. Oklahoma would also need to lose against either Oklahoma state, Baylor or their championship game. If Oklahoma wins out they will leap frog Utah, I don't think they would have if Oregon beat ASU. Now they probably will.

Edit: I think the Baylor game is the championship game.

My brother texted me this:

Jayden Daniels:

@ Utah 4/18, 25 yards, 0 TDs, 1 int

vs Oregon 22/32, 408 yards, 3 TDs, 0 ints

I feel better about our chances vs Oregon

The Utes lost to USC, not Oregon.

Utes needed the Ducks to go into the Pac12 championship looking strong, but their loss yesterday means probably no Pac12 team will get into the playoffs. If they had stayed at one loss and the Utes beat them in the Pac12 championship there was a chance the Utes would go to the playoffs.

He was saying that the Oregon loss to AZ state hurt the Utes. And he is correct

Last year I had entire conversations with myself, seemingly every single week, so this year it just seems pointless to me, also I think there are as many if not more BYU fans and they are salty. Also my work schedule has been a bitch on saturdays this season, meaning 12hr days where I get home at 10pm and finish watching the game around 1:30am.

with Huntley and Moss being two of the best at their positions in the country and that defense it’s very doable, and wouldn’t be shocked.

Utes are the team I follow that I was never really able to find consistent internet talk for. I'm watching every game, and monitoring this thread, but eh like you said, not much happening. And I just don't know what I'd say during a game when no one is really talking.

But they've been awesome this year. A bad loss, and there is an argument against their resume for the CFP (assuming they win out of course) but I think they would deserve it. Bama played so many crappy teams, had as bad a schedule. Their loss is way better, but Utes would be a conference champ while Bama sat at home the last week. And those FCS teams in the middle of the season? So lame.

The Committee was created so that they could be objective and put the right teams in. Hopefully they can make up for the sins of the past.

Go Utes

I think you have to ask the question, "is the goal to get the 4 best teams in the playoffs or conference champions?". If it's to get the 4 best teams then Alabama would have an argument to get in ahead of Utah.

Bama isn't the concern to get in ahead of us. They're ahead of us right now but it doesn't matter, at the end of the season if the Utes win out they'll be a 1 loss conference champion. Bama will be a 1 loss team with out a conference championship.

The teams that affect our CFP chances are Georgia if they beat LSU in the SEC championship and OU if they win out.

If we win out, OU wins out and GA loses to LSU then I feel pretty confident we'll get in but OU has a great case as well.
I hope you're right, but people are acting like the Iron Bowl is more or less a play in game for Bama, assuming everything else goes chalk. Georgia beating LSU hurts Bama, but in that scenario Georgia and LSU both get in, so no help there.

Auburn beating Bama, and LSU beating Georgia, and Utes are golden (they need to win out of course). In the other scenario where everything goes basically chalk, Bama will be in pre Pac-12 championship. And then the Utes really need to get a national narrative going in their favor while Bama sits at home. Blowing out Oregon would help a ton.

Not worried about OU, I don't see how they would jump the Utes at this point if both win out.

Not with Tua out for the season. Absolutely not.
Why not? Has the team played poorly with the backup under center?

Tom Brady was a backup and he is actually pretty good at football. Being a back up doesn't = not good or something. Right?
Also, aren't there like way more than one player on a football team?

OU has virtually no chance. They won’t beat anyone of note to move up enough.
