What's new

Conley could miss multiple weeks with hamstring injury

We'd never do it... but I still think a three team deal where Conley went to NY and CP3 came here would still be viable.

Time to see what Exum can give us... maybe NWG gets some run... this ain't great... 3 weeks is 10ish games... if it lingers then we are looking at like 15ish games.
There used to be a clause about not being able to trade injured players. There used to be anyways I'm not sure if it's still a thing

Edit: now that I think of it, it's not being able to cut an injured player not trade. That's how John Starks got his career in the NBA. In the final pre-season practice on the day the Knicks were going to cut him he got injured and was forced to keep him. Their starting guard got injured early on in the season so they played Starks. The rest is history

OKC would ask for picks. Jazz have no more picks to give, the future is already mortgaged. But it would be totally the most Dennis Lindsey thing to do to trade more first round picks for another pg.

The Internet said:
Paul signed a four-year deal with the Rockets last season worth $159.7 million that has the team on the hook for a whopping $38.5 million for next season, $41.3 million the season afterwards, and finally $44.2 million in 2021/2022 at the age of 36

They'd get out from that insane contract for only between 0.5 and 1.5 years of Conley. Not sure picks would be necessary.

Wow, totalling wasn't expecting a 32 yr old who missed 50% of games in the last two season due to injury/physical condition to get injuried like this. Poor Dennis Lindsey.

It was still worth the gamble though. Bummer it hasn't worked out and it may not but there is still plenty of time for the team to gel for the playoffs. But the reality is even at our best we're probably too small and not tough enough. We need an enforcer.

Not the case with Indiana or Toronto. Both would beat us handily in a 7 game series right now without their best player in Oladipo or Lowry. Because of better management.
Payroll. You think if Harden sits out Houston is okay? You think if Lebron sits out the Lakers are okay? Golden State looks fine without Curry and Thompson don’t they? Milwaukee would look great without Giannis. Should I go on? Or should we just hush?

Other teams will give them a pick. The Jazz won’t come close to being the highest bidder.

Justice for what? Trying to upgrade the roster and improve the team? Look, it sucks that the trade hasn't worked out so far but I don't blame Lindsey and Zanik at all for pulling the trigger on it. Conley has been a far superior player to Rubio throughout his entire career. Even this year Rubio is only shooting 38% from the field and 29% from 3 and has also missed a few games with injury. He does some good things on the court but he also has some serious flaws. There's also a very good chance Bogey wouldn't be on the Jazz right now if Rubio was still the point guard.
Conley > Rubio, yes. But is Conley>Rubio +Crowder+picks? I don't think so. Plus Conley is a good player, but not a superstar/game changer in which you can simply ignore the fit/chemistry. And Rubio is way superior than Conley in that department. Better players don't necessarily produce you the better result because basketball is a game of 5, not 1 on 1 on every possession or else Melo would still be the star in this league.

You need players who can do the dirty work so our star players can shine. People made arguments against the Conley trade even prior to it happens and their reasonings have been justified thus far. It doesn't make our team better. It actually made us tread water, if not worse.

Exum and NWG won't play. We'll start DM/Ingles/Oneale/Bogey/Gobert. Mudiay will stay the backup PG. And Quin will play his man crush Niang as much as possible so our bench can suck ***.

Hello darkness MY old friend.

Funny you are talking about payroll and we are paying Conley more than anyone who is currently on the Raptors/Pacers roster

Getting to the point where the team is not good nor fun. Starting to entertain the idea that's something fundamentally wrong.

For me they certainly have not been as fun to watch this season as past, not sure if that's on me for having increased expectations this year.

It's important to remember Jazz record is better this stage than same time last season.

Something is just way less watchable for me, I don't think the offence has changed too much but maybe I just don't enjoy the new players individual games/personalities as much as the old team.

As long as Conley gets healthy we'll be fine. The offense has been much better recently. Seems like Quin and the guys have figured a few things out. We're moving so much more on offense. Quin also seemed to figure out some good rotation stuff last night. We were clicking well until Conley got hurt. Ingles works as a starter. Royce was great off the bench. Bench unit of Davis/Green/Royce/Mudiay was actually solid.

well, more than exum to come out playing good (what would be really helpful), if there's something this asks for is to not to suck at the pf spot and backup center

Too late. Word is out on Lindsey...give him your pg he gives you picks.

Besides, Paul has OKC winning now. And OKC is in assett accumulation mode. They are not parting with Paul for nothing. They have three years to hold gim until to see if another team will give up a draft pick or young player for him.

No motivation to get off his salary now.

So I'll just put you down for irony.

Btw Im still waiting to see that Bojan quote posted. People refer to it all tje time so it should be easy to find where he actually said it.

The only thing Quin has figured out is playing the starters very heavy minutes against weak teams is enough to eek out some wins.

Lol Neto .. to bolster the injury list ?
When healthy he was effective... didn’t matter how much or how little he played... he was always ready. I understand the health concerns. He’s been healthy this year and he’s been good. We’d likely have an extra win or two if he was here.
