Conley could miss multiple weeks with hamstring injury

Some of you are impossible. IF RUDY AND/OR DONOVAN ARE NOT MVP LEVEL PLAYERS YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE. You had exactly what you're talking about the past 2 seasons and you couldn't compete with that either. You tried with a bunch of good players in Ricky, Favs, Jae, and now went with a guy who has proven to be a great player his whole career, had name recognition, and gave you something you needed. Just because it hasn't went smoothly doesn't mean it wasn't a good decision. THE LAST TWO SEASONS WERE EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE PROFESSING HERE. IT DIDN'T WORK.
We absolutely WERE competing with Ricky, Favs and Crowder. What are you talking about? Just look at the team that we had then compared to the team that we have now, do you seriously think that we are now more competitive than the team that we were in the last two seasons?

I agree that we need to utilize our cap flexibility over this last summer to improve our chance even further, but the way we did it is not how you supposed to do it.

EITHER.

Spending big on one or two bonafide superstars that would for sure take our team to the next level.

Or spending smaller portion on a NUMBER of good players to strengthen the depth of our squad.

And we managed to do neither.

The Bojan wouldn't come here without conley myth will never die.

Anyone find that link yet?
It isn't financially realistic to get Bogey without giving up Favs just FYI, what you're saying is not what I was implying.

@oneye. Then go get the third guy. Not mike conley. He was never going to put you over the top so why gut the team to get him?

And if your success model includes a beating other teams by having a superior bench unit, you better not rely on Niang and Green.

And if your entire defense is structured around superior interior defense and rim protection don't use your mid level to sign Ed Davis to be your back up center.
Lol. Lay out your plan that would have worked so well. And actually yes, if Conley was performing how expected the entire league expected that move to put the Jazz in contender status.

It got you second round and smoked by the Rockets (because Harden is an MVP) and First round smoked by the Rockets. But sure. You weren't beating either LA teams, the Rockets, Sixers, or any of those teams with last years solid roster. Sorry.

And how well were we competing with that team a year ago?

Nothing wrong with that had we kept Crowder or acquired some other PFs.
Would have kept average players and an average team that would have got smoked in the 1st or 2nd round. Your stars have to be MVP level or you aren't winning. Period.

At least as well as we are competing right now, if not better
This seasons record is best start in years and the team hasn't even played that well, specifically Mike. If Mike performs just average him, the Jazz will be fine and are absolutely better than last year. Starting lineup matters more in the playoffs than anything.

Yeah, average teams like Indiana and Toronto just smoked you with all the average players that they had. Or are you trying to tell me that Turner, Sabonis, Siakam, Bronson are just superior players than DM Conley Bojan and Rudy? No, only because they have more of the so-called "average" players than us.

Pairing a few "above average" players with a bunch of "below average" players won't produce you better results than just a number of "average" players. If you have elite superstars, then that is another story.

Well a year ago today we were 14-17. So, yeah.
The starting lineup was starting to look fine when Mike has played in the past few games he has played. The Jazz were up 16 last night until Mike couldn't come back to fill the buffer between the bench and the starters. The Jazz starting lineup is significantly more potent and Mike hasn't even been shooting well at all. But when you have a potent and paid starting lineup and one of them gets injured yes there's going to be significant drop off lol. The injury hurts. The move to get Mike didn't.

You think Toronto or Indiana is going to take down either LA team? Or Milwaukee in a playoff series? Cause I don't. You're looking at in a one game sample size. Last years team got blown out by 50 by the Mavs and had a worse record who didn't have KP or Luka. Don't be dumb. If Rudy and Donovan aren't great you aren't getting there. That's the bottom line. They have to be top tier stars. Both those teams will be average, non-title contenders when it comes down to it too.

Yeah let's all pretend that we still have a shot at more than just first/second round finish this year with the squad that we have
If healthy they absolutely do. To add to this, you had no shot at it standing pat either lol.
