Trade deadline discussion

Jazz's biggest rivals from last season -- Lakers, Clippers and Nuggets -- are all having down years. Jazz can probably beat the current version of the Warriors. It would be hard not to make a move if the Jazz thought it could push them past Phoenix to the Finals.
Don’t the warriors get Klay back soon? That could be interesting.

I don’t think we get past a healthy Phx team. And I’d be real nervous playing the clippers or grizzlies. I’m confident we’d beat down the Nuggets, Lakers, and Mavs

Almost every team could use Joe Ingles, he fits anywhere (which is why we shouldn't trade him btw). There was a lot of smoke around the Warriors situation, and it made sense given that it could have put us under the tax if we traded Ingles for one of their young players.
The current version of Jingles looks pretty gassed. He’s one of my favorite players of all time. But man he just looks bad this year.

I don’t think he’s been bad, but I do think he’s coasting some. We’ve also been limiting his offensive load by playing Forrest who dominates the ball.

It’s a good thing that we’re saving some in the tank for the playoffs. If we needed him to be the ball handler he was last year I still think he’s more than capable.

I agree he's been fine offensively. I think defensively is where he's really struggling right now, particularly in transition. He just looks slow on that end. Then again he was a team high +25 tonight and a team high +24 in the Mavs game so he's doing something right.

he's slower this year so his trade value will be lower. maybe we can only get James Harden in return. last year I was aiming at Kevin Durant so there.

U have to ask yourself why are we hearing about this now? McMahon and Tony have sources and report what the front office want let out. I think we’re getting conditioned early, as fans, to understand Joe is gone soon.

I’ve also noticed an uptick in negative comments on joe from the local press. Tonight i think i saw a stat that joe is bad in transition D. The Utah brass is pushing a narrative in order to lessen the blow when Joe leaves. My $.02

Conley is the one who keeps breaking come playoff time, right?

The fact that the Jazz are saying that they want a "starting-caliber big wing" also doesn't bode well for Royce O'Neale, imo. In his last 5 games, Royce is averaging 3.5 pts and 5 rebs in just over 30 mins.

If the Jazz were to combine Royce's and Joe's salaries, that would get them to $21.8M, which matches guys like Barnes and Grant.

Kinda sucks that GSW are good this year. They have some major money on the books and I figured if they were bad they would start making some deals. I'm not sure what we would want or how we could help them,

According to Tim MacMahon a rival executive said Utah had a deal for Ingles in place this off-season, but backed out because Snyder forced a veto.

Tony Jones said he'd try to trade for Josh Hart.....who is the guy taken with the Jazz's 30th pick in 2017 after the Jazz traded up for Tony Bradley.

I agree with the philosophy though. I think the Jazz really need a big guard who can defend up a position or two. They want a guy with perimeter offensive skills as well as gritty defensive skills. I still think Cedi Osman would also be a good fit.

I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to radio interviews where Ingles has said he’d retire if he couldn’t play for the jazz anymore, so I’m not sure how tradeable Ingles is.
