Trade deadline discussion

The Jazz still have a 2026 pick. But the 2026 pick is the one obvious thing of value the Jazz can trade and are probably getting pretty desperate to glue this thing together before mom comes home.
Maybe if we get pregnant we can save the marriage?

The one measure of solace I have with Ainge is that this is the dude that pillaged the Nets of their picks and that he knows the value. I would hope he wouldn't be so short-sighted, especially since the rebuild is (or at least should be) coming in the next few years and only a fool doesn't see that.

Well **** it, let's talk about trading Rudy or Donovan (say, this offseason).

If the Jazz don't trade an unprotected 1st at their first opportunity, trade Donovan. He will net more in a trade and the Jazz would probably still make the playoffs with Rudy and whoever until 2024 (hopefully you can extend Bogey a season?), such that the pick owed to OKC will convey (still can't believe that whole sequence of events, but I digress). Then you look at selling off whatever and going full OKC.

If the Jazz do trade an unprotected 1st at their first opportunity... god help us. I was gonna say trade Rudy and blah blah blah... but I think Donovan and his corny, fake-leader, cool guy charade will be pretty hard to stomach as this team so very mysteriously starts racking up losses. That all would lead to an extremely sloppy and painful handful of years.

Rudy deserved to get roasted for those comments. He actually deserved more backlash.

Imagine LeBron James going public and telling the media that his teammates need to try harder and then make the comparison that they need to defend like Draymond or whoever else defender you want to use.

Rudy was reckless with his comments, and I've been telling you those comments pissed off the team and not just Donovan. Rudy brought this on.
That wasn't what I was referring to.

If we are forced to trade one, let the locker room decide because they are going to be the ones left with the side that is chosen.

Let’s not. Why would we trade Gobert for 75 cents on the dollar and be one of the worst defensive teams in the league when we can get $1.25 on the dollar for Mitchell - compete now and get picks/young players for the future.

Because we have an old team, and if they are upset that Donovan is traded, that might lead to future issues down the road.

Just look at what Clarkson said about Rudy's public comments. Y'all are acting like Donovan is the only one irritated by Rudy.

And why would we get .75 on the dollar for Rudy? If anything, this might be the last window of time that we can get great value for Rudy.

We’d have plenty of offers on the table for both but here is the type of deals they’d look like:

Gobert for Barnes/Bagley/1st

Mitchell/Clarkson for Randle/Barrett/Toppin/2 firsts

Which team has a better shot at competing now and is better set up for the future:

Team 1

PG - Conley
SG - Barrett
SF - Bogdanovic
PF - Randle
C - Gobert

6th/7th man - Royce/Toppin

Two New York first round picks with a worse roster plus saving 5M in salary then Ingles comes off the books and we have some flexibility and assets again.

Team 2

PG - Conley
SG - Mitchell
SF - Bogdanovic
PF - Barnes
C - Whiteside

6th/7th man Royce/Clarkson

Sacramento 1st with Rudy improving them and Ingles salary coming off the books.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

I love your passion, but both of those deals are awful.

If we traded Rudy, we would target Jaylen Brown and take Horford's deal.

If we traded Don, we would target Jaylen Brown and take Smart's deal.

Or at least that's what I would do.

I didn’t say I’d do them I said that’s what’s gonna be on the table. Not sure what you think we’d get for either. I’d love to see it.

Randle, Barrett, Toppin and 2 firsts for Mitchell is not terrible either lmao. That is the exact type of deal we’d want especially getting rid of Clarkson in the deal as well.

I don't think the Jazz fanbase or FO would be happy with that trade. I think it would require Fournier and a couple more picks, and I still think the FO looks for something better.

Why would we want Fournier’s terrible contract?

Barrett is 21 and is averaging 18/6/3. Randle is an all-star. Toppin was just a top-10 pick. Plus 2 unprotected firsts. We can ask for pick swaps too.

We move off of Clarkson and his contract. We open up flexibility and gain assets back that we need. You are delusional.

If we traded Don to NY, I think it's because we are picking Rudy over him. Well, Fournier and Rudy are good friends from the French National Team.

I think it would be something like 3 or 4 1st round picks, Fournier, Barrett and somebody else (maybe Randle?).

But I just don't see us trading Donovan unless he wants to leave right now.

What do all of those picks instead of an all-star player do for us in the moment? We have to utilize this time of Rudy’s prime. Taking a young player plus just picks doesn’t help us win now. If we could get extra picks along with Randle like 3/4 like you said of course we go for it.
