2022 Free Agency Thread

Jazz need to get younger and more athletic. Switching from Bogey and O’Neale to Harris and Thybulle technically accomplishes this goal. . . but not by much and not in a way that I think benefits the team long term. This feels like a bandaid.

Harris is 100x the passer Bogey is.
Yeah, but I really don’t think it’s going to move the needle. I think we’d get frustrated and realize that Bojan was giving us more, despite his flaws.

If we get him I will start a thread that will get to 100 pages about how I can't believe we are paying this guy 40M. He would quickly become a target for fan hate. He's a grass is greener guy and I just think the contract is too prohibitive... especially for us.

2023-24 Salaries:

Tobias Harris - $41
Thybulle - ?

Royce O'Neale - $10
Rudy Gay $6.5

Next year is rough for sure. That's why I wish Conley was in this deal somewhere. He's set to make $24.4 next year. Conley, Royce and Gay make Tobias money this year and next.

I just think we need some cap flexibility for 2023/2024 and taking on Harris would kill that aspect. Just don't see Harris as someone who will get you there.

Tobias is eating a meal from Ruby Tuesday’s; it’s not particularly bad, and it’s not particularly great. It’s just something. You’ve gotta eat and you’re forced into it because the rest of your party is there. You’re not sick or anything, but you get the bill and think how much happier you’d be, and how much time you would have saved to do something you actually wanted, if you just picked up a could McDoubles.

And honestly... I expect us to do kinda the opposite. Get less expensive and see if we can cover up for the lose of Bogey or Royce with a cheaper option.
