Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I think all of us realize that Mitchell is a good player, with a lot of flaws, namely defense.

His attitude has gotten really bad, and it’s fairly obvious he won’t re-sign with the Jazz in the future. Might as well trade him for some big chips while the value is high.

On a max contract at 12 and 8 with a reputation for dogging it? Yeah, that “value” goes negative quick. Before CP3 there were real periods of time where it looked like he might struggle to make a second contract. The dude has been getting his table set by one of the GOATs at that and been whipped into shape by the same player whose the toughest taskmaster in the league. And after all that dogs it in the playoffs anyway.

He will have no such benefits here and have no financial incentive either. He is bad money. I am not sure I’ve seen a clearer case of this degree with regard to a potential max player.

If we were talking about a reclamation project, that’s different. We’re talking about a max. And we’re talking about resetting culture on top of that. I think he’s bad on all of it.

I don’t even know what 12 and 8 is referring to??

What we’re talking about here is giving up something wayyy less than what you’d get if you decided to trade him later. If Ayton chooses Utah, we should be over the moon because there is a long list of teams who wish he would have chosen them instead.

You want players on contracts that teams are willing to sign them for. Ayton is that player. You can say he’s not this or that….he’s more valuable than a bad first.

Wow. No chance. This is WAY off the deep end.

I don't understand what you are talking. You mention 12 and 8 but Ayton has never put up those numbers and was definitely never at risk of not getting a second contract. Also the suns really started clicking in the bubble before even adding CP. CP has also missed a bunch of games over the last 2 years and Ayton was the exact same player with Payne at pg. Also I don't think we are even talking about a max contract for Ayton. I'm thinking more in the 4yr 100-110 range.

I mean…is it common to believe that Ayton is a 12/8 guy? I guess that would explain a lot of thinking here lol.

It will also cost serious assets to get him here. Nope.
We offer Bogey and a 1st. If they don't bit then offer another 1st and that is our best offer. I'm fine with Bogey and 2 protected 1sts for him.

If the Jazz can get Ayton for matching salary and a junk 1st, and he signs for less than the max then that is how you get me on board. I’ll eat my hat if that happens.

Lol everyone is begging for a tank and when we end up being in the lottery for the next half decade everybody will be complaining. I don’t think many of you are truly ready for another tank.
Complaining is what Jazz fanz do best. We get excited about the draft and then are rarely happy with our picks. We get excited about summer league to see our draft picks and then start calling our picks bust shortly after that. We complain about the roster and complain that the FO is doing nothing to improve the team. When they do they complain about the choices. People get excited about trades and justify overpaying for a player and then end up complaining about the trade. i.e. Conley, Favors. So no matter what the Jazz do people will complain.

That is what I am wondering. The guy is a really good young player and if we are keeping Mitchell I think he is an excellent fit with him in the pick and roll. I also think he still has quite a bit of upside offensively.

And yes, I’m shooting way from the hip here. But the costs vs benefits are way underwater IMO.

He’s a RFA. They don’t want him. We really might not have to offer much. Like 2/40 maybe? And that’s it. Our involvement in a three-way is what the Suns and Nets need more than anything.
