Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Wonder if Bogey to the Cavs makes some sense. Go super big. Bogey at the 2, Garland at the 1. They need a legit shooter.

If DL were here and we still had second rounders, we could make a deal with the Cavs.

If you can get a first for Vanderbilt you do it in an instant
I think he could be in the eventual deal for Westbrook where we ransack the Lakers for their picks… low salary… decent fit with AD… their other center options are like Thomas Bryant… those Lakers picks need to be ours.

Jake Fischer says the Jazz are asking for a first round pick for all 3 of Conley, Bogey and Vanderbilt...says that they are receiving more calls about Vanderbilt than any of the other veterans.
It's tough to see a market for Conley right now but I guess it makes sense to establish an asking price. Hopefully something comes up that allows the Jazz to send him to a competitive team. He deserves to be in the thick of it in these later years. If they could even just find expiring and a 2nd by the deadline then they should do it.

Vanderbilt might be a keeper, but he's a UFA in two years, so might be best to cash in while they can.

I hope they find a 1st for Bogey

The scenario that makes sense for all three players is in a Lakers or Lakers/Nets mega trade, though I think Beverley is probably more valuable due to his contract than Conley is (but in a three-way the Jazz could send both).

I think he’s better than whatever protected or 20-30 pick you’d get for him.
Not when it matters, most likely. He's a UFA in two years and the Jazz could be on the up but they'll probably still be bad. Could either just want to leave or be due for a payday that the Jazz won't want to pay out.

Good thing no team in the league has more win-now pieces up for grabs than the Jazz.

I don’t even think expiring is that important. If it’s someone whose contract expires in 2024, I think that’s fine. Our cap total should be so low and signing key expensive free agents shouldn’t be a big priority next summer anyway.

Who said anything about signing anybody? You gotta have actual room under the cap in order to rent it to contenders for young players/picks. The Royce TPE might work for that too but you can do a lot with $10 million in cap space for rent.

But yeah, depending on what the return is, 2024 salary might be fine. I'd want a first, though, since it would probably be a pure junk contract. Expiring and a 2nd is probably all around just a smaller ask with similar or perhaps even greater utility.

Fair point. It may not be our best asset related option but I still like him enough to keep him and risk it. I can’t say you are wrong though.

Damn, that’s the one guy I want to see on this team. Doesn’t make sense to me to trade him. He’s perfect for the tank and think he develops into one of those role player stars. He’s going to be better than some mid 20’s pick. At the very least don’t trade him at his lowest value. Lol.

Ideally, I’d like to see Vanderbilt in his own deal just to maximize return. I think he might be our most valuable asset to other teams outside of Mitchell right now.

Yep. Didn’t know we are still 21+M over the cap too.

Looks like we have almost 12M in tax space so I wonder if we would trade Conley’s 22+M salary for like garbage 27M that expires in 2023 and a 1st. Don’t see why we wouldn’t. Conley for Love is super close to the 125% and could make a lot of sense for both teams, no? They add a needed vet and presence and someone to replace Sexton. They save 5M this year. Maybe a 2026 1st which I’m cool with. Just not sure that’s worth a 1st to Cleveland and I also think it’s just outside the 125%.

Maybe… I think bogey has really good value too. Has a bigger contract. I would just be laser focused on premium draft assets. The lotto protected picks are fine but we can find those in salary dumps and selling off Beverly types… I’d rather lump a few guys to get and get a premium pick like those Laker picks will be than 4-5 other firsts. At some point it’s hard to efficiently use them all in trades and picking players.
