What's new

Woj: Don to the Cavs for Markkanen, Agbaji, Sexton, three unprotected 1sts, two swaps, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Are we sure our current roster isn't better than the Knicks'?
PG: Brunson vs. Conley
PG: Quickley vs. Sexton
SG: Fournier vs. Beasley
SG: Grimes vs. Clarkson
SF: Barrett vs. Bogey
SF: Reddish vs. Fontecchio
PF: Randle vs. Markkanen
PF: Toppin vs. Vando
C: Robinson vs. Udoka
C: Hartenstein vs. Kessler

With the vets, we’re pretty close (I think). . . but once we trade some of them away they’ll be better - not sure how much though. They crush us at center. That’s a huge weak spot for the Jazz right now. Everything else is closer.

Donovan to Ainge: Knicks/Heat/Nets are my preferred destinations

Ainge to Knicks: Give us RJ and 3 unprotected 1sts

Knicks to Ainge: How about making the third pick top-5 protected

Ainge to Knicks: No

*Knicks proceed to sign RJ to an extension*

*Knicks report to media they gave Ainge a deadline for a deal*

Altman to Ainge: We will give you Sexton + Agbaji + 3 unprotected 1sts

Ainge to Donovan: Pack your bags you’re going to Cleveland

LMAO!!!

He had no problems until a meniscus tear, and the only reason he missed so much time is because he decided to heal it correctly. I don't think there should be any serious or particular concerns about him at this stage.
Didn’t know that they played him at SF this year, that’s interesting. Think he sounds like a really solid stretch 4 for the new look Jazz.

It’s interesting to me that DA has only gotten one guy on an expiring contract out of these two trades - and he flipped him for a guy on a 2 year contract.

I also just wanted to say we obviously don’t give a **** about paying people long-term. That narrative never made sense for one minute and I can’t believe how many main media people were pushing it.
And we shouldn’t. It’s a 2 year tank - then try to get relevant fast after that and root for other teams to suck instead.

This really isn't a problem. Take it from OKC, or what Portland did last year. If you want to lose you'll find a way to lose. Sit veterans and give young players "a chance", rest players, shut players down mid-season due to "injuries" etc...
Yep, just need a coach that is in on it. Stupid ****ing Corbin. Could have got embiid and ended up with exum

I am now curious as to whether we hang on to all these picks and actually use them for ourselves or they become pieces in a different move down the road.
Im sure the answer is both. We have a ton. We will use some to draft dudes and some to trade for dudes

I’m interested to hear what people think on this.

Sexton at 4/72M or RJ at 4/107M

I’m super high on both but was higher on the prospect of RJ being here not in New York. Now that Sexton is here I lean towards him.
Homer (me too btw)

It would’ve been hard to pick Embiid that year. We already had Kanter, Favors and Gobert, plus Embiid was coming off some concerning injury issues. Hindsight is 20/20, I think top three in our circumstances would’ve been very hard. The bigger issue was buying the hype and picking Exum over Smart. He might not be a start but he’s been solid and would’ve been solid for this team.

Not a huge College basketball guru but reading up scouting on Agbaji. Lol it's funny how boring our draft night was and it turned out decently for us.

Position: Guard

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 215

College: Kansas

Scouting report: Has a true knack for scoring the ball at a high clip and has very good shot selection as well. Agbaji is a real threat from deep as he shot 40% from three this past season and north 37% as a junior. Each year he has grown his game which you can see across the board in all of his per-game totals. The next step for Agbaji is becoming more consistent at the free-throw line, eliminating bad turnovers, and creating separation for his shot.

Still incredible, though. I'm not sure Royce has ever played worse on the whole.
Ya he was really bad. Looked like an old washed up dude. I have no idea what happened to him............. but thanks for the FRP!

It was crazy and like I said we don’t have to do this. I would argue all three players we got from the Cavaliers are the best three players in either deal. We got an extra pick swap and the 2029 1st we got from them isn’t top-5 protected.
I prefer to get "not" the best players.

This reminds me of setting everything up for a splurge in 2019 free agency and came away with Julius ****ing Randle.

They have super-glued the rainbow wig on their head.
lol

I loved the comment i saw on one of those tweets: "danny ainge is a war criminal"
