Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

So you want to be OKC for the next 5 years? **** that
Nothing is more frustrating than when people throw out stupid statements. The thunder had a 2 year period of time where they tore everything down. This is now the 3rd year and they are clearly on the up swing even with Chet missing the season. They are in a great position going forward now so yes I would love to be OKC. They have 2 big time pieces in SGA and Giddey. Two awesome glue guy pieces in Dort and Jalen Williams. Then a bunch of young pieces with a lot of upside and of course the biggest wildcard is Chet. His upside is massive. In the meantime they still have a ton of future picks including one of ours and now in a position to start adding a piece or 2 through free agency as well.

I'm also still greatly enjoying the season. Drafting is always a crap shoot, and while it would be nice to have a high pick, there's no guarantee. Experience and winning matters for players, and I definitely think there's significant upside for the future prospects for this team in playing in the playoffs. So far, this has been a highly entertaining season, and for me basketball is about entertainment. Titles are great and all, but it's not the only thing that matters.

Let me ask you a question. Do you enjoy this year more than last year even though we had a better record last year? For me last year sucked because there was no upside. You say titles aren't the only thing that matters but that is only the case when you have a team that you feeling has the potential to eventually to a title contender. When that isn't the case then it sucks. Nothing is worse than being stuck in that middle ground. Right now we clearly don't have the future pieces to move beyond the middle ground and the only way to get that point is likely through the draft so don't you think it makes sense to try to get a better pick by dumping guys that have no future here? What is the point of having guys like Conley, Olynyk, Gay and Clarkson as your core players when most are unlikely to be on this team in 2 seasons. How would you feel this summer if Clarkson just leaves for nothing? I think if he doesn't agree to an extension over the next few weeks then you have to trade him. Maybe still trade him if he agrees to the extension because it likely increases his value but you promise to send to a contender.

Guys I want to trade as soon as possible.

JC
Beasley
KO
Gay
Conley

We already have far too many wins to this point. We need to get ahead of all this winning crap for next year so we can screw the Grizz just like the warriors did to us once upon a time. This year is ****ed, next year doesn’t need to be as well.

Gonna have to add lauri to your list.
Markennan wont allow us to tank.

Jazz failed this season to the point the only way we succeed now is by the nba bailing us out.

I disagree. We have a lot of bites at the apple (lots of draft picks)
Would you be happy if we drafted a player the caliber of Jokic in an upcoming draft? How about giannis?
Neither of those dudes were even lottery picks. We have lots of picks that could turn into a superstar. We have lots of picks that can be traded. We also got some good pieces currently on our team already. Even 1 that is possibly a superstar.

How good would that pick look next to a top 2 pick in the draft? What do two low lotto picks do to help us contend in the future.

Hard to answer this question since some #2 picks suck ***.
Wouldnt look all that good next to jabari parker for example (a #2 pick)
What if we got the number 1 pick and ended up with Michael bennet or olawakandi! That would be awesome. Maybe we could get eddie curry. Maybe even andrea bargnani!

That roster is only going to get better throughout the year. At the very worst they’ll be a playin and probably make the playoffs because they’ll beat a team with a much less talented team. And where does that leave us. A low lotto pick a pick in the 15-20 range and 24-30 range with how the nets are looking like the best team in the league lately. I actually love the jazz, you are just looking for a bit of entertainment get out you fair weathered fan!!!!

So they might have a shot at being as good as the current jazz team is already? Amazing. I bet their fans are so happy about that!

My trade targets if I was Jazz GM:
1) Laker future first round picks - These are the most valuable assets the Jazz can possibly attain. I would offer Clarkson, Beasley, Vanderbuilt, and Olynyk for Westbrook and the unprotected picks in '26 & '28. Each player the Lakers get has current year and next year under contract, so it allows them to compete for two years. This one hurts as a fan, but I think it significantly increase the odds of the Jazz winning a championship.
2) John Collins - He is a second draft guy and has a lot of similarities to Lauri: in a bad situation, has shown he can do well in bigger role, has contributed to winning team.
3) Mo Bamba - I think he is really good and ready for a bigger role. Orlando can't offer him that bigger role because they have Wendell Carter Jr.
4) Miles Bridges - I know, he did something terrible. I would still look into it (not necessarily do it, but at least look into it).
I dont think the Lakers are going to give up the draft picks. I read that they are looking at using them this summer to bring in a star.

Collins is ok but I think ATL wants a lot for him.

Bamba is very interesting

. Right now we clearly don't have the future pieces.

Huh? We have a **** ton of future pieces. Something like 17 picks in the next 10 drafts or some ****.

Now yer talkin!!!

I am so mad right now if ever there was a year to tank this was it. This makes me wonder how hamstrung Danny Ainge was from ownership. This franchise doesn’t have the balls or the what it takes to do what’s necessary to be successful all they care about is the bottom line. Makes me sick to my stomach
So I think you're a year ahead of what DA thought was going to happen. Next year is best year to tank. This year is about seeing what we have from the trades, build a system and culture, and increase trade value. And if possible find a way to have an All Star when we host this year. We were never going to be bad enough to all out tank this year with the untradeable contracts of Conley, Clarkson, Gay and even THT. You have to play those guys to keep the Value up. Next year all those become expiring contracts and are much easier to trade. Plus we want to keep our top 10 protected pick from OKC next year if possible. So going into the trade deadline of next year you try to get your team ready to add your next superstar along side Lauri and Kessler and who ever else you pick up or keep and build from there.
I'm sure DA expected us to still be a lottery team this year so that is out side his plan. But if its 2 mid 1st this year and high lottery next year we should still add the talent we need to get back into the playoff picture the year after that. And then hope that CLE and Minny start to fall apart so we get good picks from them.

I do enjoy this season more than last year, but I can't remember how last year felt at this point. Closer to the playoffs, and certainly during the playoffs, last year felt really bad. It felt like the team was falling apart. I'm from Europe, and I've grown up watching football (soccer), where for a lot of teams, the future hopes of titles certainly isn't what's driving people. Obviously, US sports is a bit different, as there's no relegation.

I don't think it's that clear that this team can't contend. As long as you get to the playoffs, every series lives its own life and you always have a chance. Maybe you need an injury or something to make those chances very realistic, but it's not like the chances are purely theoretical either. The goal should always be to get to the playoffs, try to win games, see where it ends IMHO.

You got that right. There are people who claim to "know" how to win a championship making those statements.

You laptop GMs math be like "if we suck for 4 years and get top 5 pick in each year we are bound to be great".

Well how has that worked for Minnesota? Between 2006 and 2020 they had 12 top 7 picks in 15 years including two #1, one #2 and one #3... they should have won 5 titles according to some of your logic.

You know who their best pick during that era may have been? Lauri Markkanen, who they traded to Chicago on draft day.

Maybe KAT or Ant will end up having a better career.. but I wouldnt trade Lauri straight up for either of those two.

One peak at Clutchfans where I see houstonians trash their two top 3 picks relentlessly telling how "they wasted these tanking years" tells me where I for sure dont want to be.

We’ve seen jazzfanzers quit this team over being pretender contenders. I’m tired of the status quo. Sometimes the greatest feats are those achieved out of agony and blood and sweat and patience and losing money so you can make a **** ton of money when a **** ton of games and championships but you’re fine with the status quo
You are wasting your time thinking this ownership is going to do what needs to be done. I don't disagree a hard tank this season would have made a ton of sense. But that is a long gone dream.
Right now the only thing you should focus on is the Finnisher getting to the allstar game, so that the second half of the season he is so game planned for, the team loses more than they win and finishes with a losing record. Will they be as bad as the Rockets OKC or some other multiyear tank machine NO but there is a lottery to look forward to

REALLY?

How many other owners are down with trading their two all-stars in the same off-season after 6 straight playoff runs?

I get the logic, but that is not what they did the trades for. They are retooling and rebuilding on the fly in the hopes for at the most a one year turn around. What they did in truth was they sold high on 1 overpaid overrated center, for a massive haul of picks, and a couple of win now players who also have rebuild staying potential. They traded a market inflated value first option 6'1 guard for, 2 highly underrated value players who were to be starters or 6th man level players day one in Utah and one who has a high floor, not too mention some draft picks that might also help them add some more win now prospects from the draft each year.
I think you are misjudging about how reserved this front office regardless of them having a pair

Lmao. What LALA land do you live in? Markkanen doesn’t need to make an allstar team for the jazz to lose a lot of games.
