Orlando wants veterans for Dwight Howard.....

Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and GS pick for Howard.

No way Howard stays here long term but I doubt Orlando gets a better offer than that.

Utah is not on Howard's list of teams he would re-sign with. So we would be dumping good players for nothing.

I do think it is time to rebuild though so trading AJ or Millsap is probably going to happen. I think Millsap would allow the Jazz to either move up in the draft or get a high pick. I would rather keep Millsap and trade AJ because on the financial difference of the two contracts. I also believe Millsap is a better fit and is a nice 6th man.

. . . except that if Utah traded AJ, then Millsap would be the de facto first-string PF (unless Favors can figure out how to play the 4--i.e., score--alongside Kanter, which he wasn't able to do much last night). But in the short term, maybe that would help the "rebuilding" toward a high lottery pick :|.

So we intentionally damage our future with a 1 year rental that won't win us a championship? Is that what you are proposing?

It would be a sweet deal if Dwight would agree to an extension. Unfortunately, he wouldn't. I am still interested in what we could possibly get for Jefferson otherwise though.

Include Harris and Bell in that.

I can see the Jazz getting involved in the Howard trade talks, but not as a destination team but as one of the teams in a multi-team deal. Howard is not going to be wearing a Jazz uniform anytime soon, and if the trade was to bring him here, Orlando would be asking for more than Jefferson, Millsap, and the GS pick. I'm pretty sure they would demand Favors and Kanter in the package.

After the way we dealt DWill, I'm not sure Utah is high on anyone's list as a destination spot except to collect a paycheck.

It is not going to happen unless we are a part of 3 team deal. Even with that the Jazz will never see D. Howard in a Jazz uniform.

Apparently some like to dream and then be crushed next year when we have nothing to show for the trade.

Maybe we could be involved as a 3rd team who send someone like Jefferson to the Magic in exchange for a decent young player from the team trading for Howard?

Made this off the top of my head. No idea if Philly actually wants Howard. Philly would throw in at least 1st round pick.

Utah does it because it gives them a promising young PG. They have to take on Brand's bad contract, but he makes for a very good backup PF.

Philly does it because they get Dwight Howard without having to give up too much. Evan Turner, Howard, and Thaddeus Young are their core.

Orlando does it because they get two veterans who will help them make the playoffs. Also at least 1 first rounder in a deep draft.

Yea we could be the 3rd team involved. But his list of teams which are Dallas, Nets, and Lakers have no players the Jazz would want.

What's with all these jazzfanz posters acting like kids in a candy store attitude. Doing that trade is like losing Millsap and Jefferson and getting nothing in return. Maybe Beantown is so delusional he thinks Howard will resign with the Jazz if we trade for him.
